...saw this and cried and the title suggested, (yes I am a girl, literally). The film is excellent with Tom Hanks playing a death row guard with a sense of fair play. The plot sets Hank's overseeing the stay of a large black man, who seems to have special healing powers. Is he actually guilty of murder? What makes the film so good is the range of human emotions and motives it looks at. There is the power crazy weak guard, who is basically a coward, ...

Never have I know a film to be so close to a book. It was definitely heart wrenching reading the book but the film bought all the feelings flooding back. Tom Hanks plays his part to the max - I can certainly say you will not be disappointed ...

...I won’t give anymore of the plot away, just to say it’s great film and if you haven’t watched it rent it out. It is directed by Frank Darabont who also directed ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ which was another excellent film. The ending is sad and you’ll have to get the tissues out. The acting is great by all the cast, and I like the way the story is retold to a close friend and most of the time we see flashbacks. ...

Advantages: Great characters, great storyline, outstanding performances, outstanding special effects and addictive throughtout the whole film!!! Disadvantages: Better soundtrack needed to accompany this film!
...even though i was below the age barrier, my mum encouraged me to watch it as she said it was "One of the best films she had ever seen". She wasn't far wrong!!!
The story starts with an 8 foot tall man, John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) enter death row where prison guard Paul Edgecombe (Tom hanks) is stationed. Edgecombe and the other guards on death row, Brutus (James Cromwell) and Percy (Michael Jeter) find it hard to believe that a man so big ... ...girls cannot sleep with out the light on!
As the story continues, the guards, Edgecombe especially, find out that Coffey has some sort of healing power. Edgecombe has a first hand experience hwne Coffey cures him of a bladder problem by seemingly sucking it out of Edgecombe into himself and then excreting it.
Later on in the film, Edgecombe is grabbed by Coffey and is shown how Coffey is innocent, but there is nothing Edgecombe can do to stop him ...

When I saw the advert on tv for 'The Green Mile', the film looked a little depressing and not particularly good. And, how wrong could I be.
I saw this by chance that my mum had ordered it off of Sky Box Office, and decided to sit down and watch a little of it.
However I found my self totally engrossed in the film, not realising it until the end. 'The Green Mile' is very gripping, and is everything that the critics claimed it to be. I'm sorry if ... ...set to be electricuted in the electric chair. He has a special gift which he believes god gave him, he can see the bad things in people. He can also cure people of diesease.
'The Green Mile' focuses on how the relationship between him and the prison guards develops to friendship. The execution scene is sad and depressing, with the prison officers breaking down in tears. But before he died, the man passes on his 'gift' to a prison guard (Tom Hanks). ...

...a Stephen King novel follows the extraordinary story told to us by Paul Edgcombe (Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump), who is a warden in a prison, specifically death row. It is here he comes across the Gentle Giant of John Koffey (Michael Clarke-Duncan, Daredevil) and his miraculous gift for helping people who are seemingly without a hope. Advantages: Great film Disadvantages: You will cry
...my mind, not even when the movie was over-- not untill i read the book. I think that they are a twist in this film because the way that the death wardens akt isnt really how they would act towards convicted rapists and murderers. Back then you had all this stuff about racism, and for a black man to kill two little girls back then, you would think that the death wardens would have killed him themselfs. The story has its own backline for portraying ... ...Too many movies are about the good guy wins, and theirs the action hero, we all know that he will come in, save the day and then the movies over. In the green mile the good guy loses, in a very sad way. The Green mile should be held as a representitive of how a good movie should be told. A thing of importance is that the acting is great accross the whole film, every actor plays great.

The Green Mile is a great film and one of the best I have ever seen if not the best. Frank Darabont, the director of The Shawshank Redemption, directs the film. The story line make this film brilliant because in my opinion the acting in this film is good but nothing brilliant well until the end anyway. The storyline was adapted from a Stephen King novel. The movie stars Tom Hanks as a prison guard on a death row block. Michael Clarke Duncan is a ... ...in his part, and probably the best acting out of the cast. I would like to tell you more about the storyline but it will defenetly spoil the film, just be prepared for a sad ending. Some people may be put off due to the violent electrocutions, but other than that, it is a movie that is definitely worth seeing. ...

Advantages: Well written and captivating Disadvantages: A little long
The Green Mile is a real epic at around 3 and a half hours long. Most people's reaction to this is not positive, in fact it is the kind of news that makes a lot of people steer away from a film. This would however be a tragedy, since it is in fact quite an epic. The thing about The Green Mile is that it was much touted as a follow-up to the highly acclaimed Shawshank Redemption, and therefore once the storyline was revealed many people assumed it ...

Advantages: Excellent acting, very atmospheric and very representative of the the attitudes of the deep south of the US Disadvantages: Can seem a little daunting at over 3hrs in length
PLOT:-
Depicting the lives of prison guards on a death row (The Green Mile), and the live of one guard in particular who has to deal with a new inmate accused of child rape and murder.
ACTORS:-
Tom Hanks amongst others.
REVIEW:-
If you liked the Shawshank Redemption and enjoy "True Story" films, then the green mile is for you. Stephen King penned the story for this film and it shows, do not be put off by the author or the length of the movie ... ...horror but in this movie the only horror that you get to see is the horror of mans inhumanity to man and the deep racial hatred that was prevalent in the deep south of the USA.
The characters within the movie are well crafted and you feel sorry for them as they are sent to the chair. This movie is emotionally strong and makes you ask questions of your own feelings.
The ending is a surprise and you will be left wanting more.
Miss this at your peril. ...

...a multi-talented movie star indeed. The Oscar Best Actor (for twice) can really move a lot of people in all of his movies. His movies range from love, comedy, thriller, to war and so on. The other reason that I watched this movie is because of Stephen King, the famous talented horror (most of them) writer. Honestly I never read his book before because I am not into horror books (especially when I am reading alone in the middle of the nights). However ... ...a prison, where Tom was the prison guard. Although this movie three hours long, I wouldn't feel bored at all (though some of my friends told me that is a boring movie). Advantages: Well acted Disadvantages: Not enough of the book was included
...I felt slightly cheated by the film adaptation of his book. Paul Edgecombe (Tom Hanks) is in charge of what you would now call Death Row. The name Green Mile refers to the faded lime coloured linoleum that runs the length of the prison block. He recounts his days and experience as a prison warden in charge of Death Row back in the 1930's to his elderly friend Elaine, a fellow resident in the nursing home where he now resides. He tells her of a the ... ...girls, the terrible death of Edward Delacroix and of Mr Jingles, a mouse that frequented the Green Mile. For me, having read the series of books first, I felt that too much was left out. Melinda's turrets syndrome was played down, the deaths of Paul's wife and kids was not mentioned nor his experiences at the nursing home. Still, I dare say the movie would have stretched to over four hours had these things been included. Overall, the movie is very ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Emotive, laughable nonsense straight out of pantomime land
...Having absolutely adored The Shawshank Redemption, I was looking forward to seeing this film, only to be very, very, very disappointed. It started off well, with Tom Hanks looking back over his career as a prison warden. Overplayed accents and overacting abound, and the gentle giant came straight out of pantomime ...
