Advantages: Direction, music, story Disadvantages: Not suitable for very young
This is the third and the best of the Sergio Leone's 'Dollar' trilogy, and possibly the best of the 'spaghetti western' genre. The previous films, 'A Fistful of Dollars' (1964) and 'For A Few Dollars More' (1965) were groundbreaking as part of the spaghetti western genre that reacted against the traditional Hollywood representation of the west and led to a regeneration in the western until the late 70's. Originally these movies were low-budget westerns ...

...had a straightforward narrative structure, the straight as arrow hero, usually the town sheriff, the bad guy, an outlaw, and a lovely heroine. Of course Injuns were always shown as nasty savages, Mexicans were bumbling idiots and Black guys who were they?. John Wayne, Burt Lancaster, Henry Fonda , Gary Cooper were some of the biggest stars of the Westerns. Until in 1966 an Italian director called Segio Leone turned the Western on it's head, to create ...

...up his cowboy gear with the Colt 45 and travelled to Europe to take part in yet another western but this time with the presence of the gifted director Sergio Leone. The final result was the "Dollars Trilogy" of which 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' is the final and most probably the finest episode. This was the movie that put Clint on the map and notorious as the fastest draw in the West.
There have been many, if not too many, spagetti westerns ...

Advantages: breathtaking film Disadvantages: deaf people may find long silences and stares a bit boring, and slightly baffling.
...Leone, who created this as the third in the trilogy of ‘spaghetti westerns’ (because of the largely Italian cast, crew and locations), after the inferior ‘Fistful of dollars’ and ‘For a few dollars more’. I see this as Leone’s greatest film, and certainly one of the greatest westerns ever made.
The western genre was, by 1966, becoming tired and much less popular than in its 1950s heyday. In this previous ...

...to be probably one of the finest movies ever made in its genre, here is a rare combination of a good casting which delivers great performances, excellent technical glitz and a strange deficiency of glamour. Made as the final component of the now-famous trilogy by Sergio Leone (“A fistful of Dollars” and “For a Few Dollars More” were the other two), this movie is certainly the best of them all in terms of overall cinematic excellence.

About the Film
The Good, the Bad and The Ugly, written by Age-Scarpelli, Luciano Vincenzoni and Sergio Leone is the third and last western in Clint Eastwood's spaghetti trilogy.
Director Sergio Leone substitutes for the upright puritan Protestant Ethos, so familiar in Hollywood westerns, with a seedy cynical standpoint towards death and morality, as a team of brutal bandits battle to unearth a fortune buried beneath ...

Advantages: Everything, its a classic brilliant film Disadvantages: none
The title of this film alone stands out amongst the rest of the budget spagetti westerns, how many rip offs of the name of this film have been used? Thousands. And what a classic this is, combined with some appaling acting, budget camera shots and poor quality sound this in my opion is one of the best films ever made.
The story line is a gem all leading to a brilliant and classic ending scene, the three main characters all play fantastic roles and ...

Advantages: great music, tension, incredible story Disadvantages: could have used a higher budget
...Leone's definitive spagetti western and the grand finale to the "Dollars" Trilogy. This is a stunning view of the harsh life of cowboys during the American Civil War. This is a simple story of the efforts of three gunslingers to find a fortune in gold hidden in the wasteland.
The Good
Though the story is simple Leone creates a incredibly complex narrative structure where the paths of these three vagrants intertwine and are wrapped up with ...

...up as a kid in the 70's and 80's, John Wayne was a very distant memory, but Clint was a hero most of us adored. For us the definition of cool meant Clint Eastwood . And there were a series of movies which immortalized Clint's style, Where Eagles Dare , Dirty Harry and of course The Good, The Bad and The Ugly . The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, was the third in the series of what many call as Dollars Trilogy or what many American critics would derisively ...

...Sergio Leone’s swan song in the spaghetti western genre. It brings together Clint Eastwood, (once again as the man with no name, or Blondie as Tuco calls him) Lee Van Cleef, (Sentenza, Angel eyes) and Eli Wallach. (Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez)
It starts with an unlikely partnership between Eastwood and Wallach, the later being a wanted outlaw, who Eastwood brings in for the reward money, then when Tuco is hanged, Blondie shoots ...

Advantages: A good western to watch, good acting by all........... Disadvantages: none........
In the mid-1960s, Clint Eastwood made three 'spaghetti' westerns in Europe under the direction of Sergio Leone. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) was the third, the last, and the best of them.
The first two films, Fistful of Dollars (1964) and For a Few Dollars More (1965) had established Eastwood's murderous, loner 'Man with No Name' character. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966) is apparently a prequel, with the story taking place towards ...

...watch it.
Not many !
This was the first big budget western , and perhaps the reason it has stood the test of time is that it was never a slave to the fashion and style of the era it was born of.
Watching the film is complete immersion in the characters and the story.
And Clint Eastwood shows why he was a true god of the silver screen.
Never has a man said so much by saying so little.
Some kids wanted to be John Wayne , but all the cool ones ...

This is probably one the finest westerns ever made. From beginning to the end it is simply brilliant. The story of the man with no name continues in the third instalment of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns. Clint Eastwood is at his best Lee Van Cleef is always impressive but Eli Walach’s portrayal of Tuco was the best. What I like most about the film is that it is 2 and half hours long and does not have a single wasted scene. It stays intense throughout ...

Well, "they" ran THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY on "the box" (i.e. on TV) the other night, and once again I was hooked. Unfortunately, the version shown was NOT letter-box, which as you all know is TV's method of trying to recapture the glorious widescreen of the cinema.
Notwithstanding this setback, yet another viewing of this great movie reminds us of two points:
One:
Whilst Sergio Leone was NOT the first Italian director to actually make ...
