Advantages: Fantastically funny Disadvantages: A little dated, but still hilarious
The Gods must be Crazy is a fantastic film. Overlooked in the UK, but a favourite across Africa, Australia, and most of the southern hemisphere.
The story of a tribal african man who finds a coca-cola glass bottle, discarded by a careless pilot. His tribe find many uses for the strange new object - believing it to be a gift from the Gods. Previously having no concept of ownership, they find themselves squabling over who shoyld have and use the object.
... ...the Gods. But he thinks that they will not take it back. So he leaves his village and goes on a trek to the end of the world to throw the object off.
Also telling the story of a man who meets a woman, and saves the tribal man along the way.
This came highly reccommended to me, and it was easy to see why. A very funny film, that stands out for its pure entertainment value. ...

...watched this film back in the early 90's and loved it then but wasn't sure I'd still feel the same watching it now (I was pretty young back in those days!). But I ordered them anyway and sure enough I still loved watching them both and so did the rest of my family including my young nephews. It's refreshing to have a film that appeals as much to adults as children and with no violence or swearing, just wholesome good fun. When you first start watching ... ...realise that it's perfect for the type of comedy it is and you'll soon be totally lost in it (and in giggles!). It's based around tribal Africans' perspective on civilisation and how crazily 'supposedly' civilised people behave. If you enjoyed channel 4's "Meet The Natives" then you'll absolutely love this!!! ...
