Advantages: Smart cars, cool guys, fit fillies Disadvantages: Not the most intellectually challenging film ever made - but then, is that a bad thing?
...attractive young filly draped over the bonnet. No, this isn't a one-man promo for Max Power magazine, but an explanation as to why I wanted to go and see the Fast And The Furious at my local multiplex. That and the fact that it had the coolest guy in cinema, Vin Diesel, in a leading role. I shall explain, if you'll indulge me......
PLOT:
First up, basic storyline. Brian O'Connor is an undercover cop assigned to try and infiltrate the street racing ... ...hi-jackers. And that's it. That's the story. The rest is all fast cars and high-speed races and chases. And it's brilliant.
ACTING AND CHARACTERS:
You might think that a film this simple and straightforward would be a bit, well, braindead and over-simple. Not so. The plot might be a bit far-fetched, but it's a good one, and it isn't just abandoned halfway through in order to show you the bonny cars. This film has a well-developed story, with characters ...

Advantages: Cars, women, great stunts, fights and a great plot. Disadvantages: Maybe a slighty worn out genre, but still great. The ending could be better! Though I won't go into that and spoil it!
I've just got back from the cinema after seeing 'The Fast and the Furious.' I had seen the trailers for the film, which portrayed it as an action packed, fast cars, guns and driving movie. I was looking forward to this type of action film and I was not disappointed. This is the best film I've seen all year. It's loud, fast and there are loads of fast cars, mean machines and street racers. The film is about an undercover cop who has been sent to find ... ...them in, as one of the criminals would fire a crossbow like weapon at the window to smash it, then climbs in on another one fired into the passenger seat of the truck, wrestles the driver and the goods in the truck are theirs.
The undercover cop is assigned the mission of tracking them down. He is sent to work in a car parts shop for tuning up cars in the hope he can find out who is the culprit. He himself is a fantastic driver and is soon involved ...

The fast and the furious
Starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Rick Yune, Chad Lindberg Directed by Rob Cohen
Written by David Ayer, Erik Bergquist, Gary Scott Thompson
Studio Universal *********
Where the hell can I start on this film? I have been looking forward to its release for ages, eagerly anticipating its arrival at my local UGC. It left me bewildered and confused. I wanted to come out and say, god that ... ...desired. It was quite possibly the cheesiest film I have ever seen in my life. The actors bar Vin Diesel were very poor (and he only rates because he is so goddamn fit!) So you may ask why was I confused if it was so appalling, well the cars were amazing, the special effects breathtaking and exhilarating, it left me flabbergasted. I did however cringe at the weak plot and the ever so cheesy lines. Perhaps I am being unfair on the actors; they did ...

...some American car films. The car appears to be going fast. Bits are flying off, the car computers going bonkers WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Then the camera pans down to the speedo and they are doing 140mph. Oh come on please. My standard Peugeot 205 1.9 Gti was capable of doing that. It kind of reminded me of the TV show “Knightrider” when Hasselhoff was doing an incredible speed of 60mph.
Since when do bits fly off a car. The only thing that can ... ...have an adjustable gauge for the turbo. NOS would destroy the engine after a few blasts. I really thought that the cars looked rather sad too. I mean, what’s with the stickers and go faster stripes on the sides of these cars. All they needed was some furry dice, nodding dog and the KEV + TRACY sun blind.
The plot was stupid also. How could stealing a lorry load of DVD players and digital cameras really be able to fund all the expensive supped-up ...

Essentially a “good cop”, Brian’s loyalties are tested as his friendship with Dom deepens and as (shock horror!) he falls for Dom’s sister Mia.

The film features Brian Earl Spilner, a young guy who seemingly works at a car parts shop that supplies state of the art parts for very powerful sports cars. The customers who frequent this shop all take part in illegal racing on the streets of Los Angeles. Brian has his won mean machine and enters a race with his car on the line. One of his competitors is Dominic "Dom" Toretto, the best there is and the most feared and respected guy on the block. ... ...hijacks in which Dom is the chief suspect. Loyalties and trust are put on the line as Brian finds himself caught up with Dom's sister as well as having to contend with some of Dom's race friends who aren't trusting of him. At the end of the day however Brian goes through with the job he must do it fast and he must do it furious. The cast is a force to be reckoned with- Dom is just a house, that is the best way to describe him. A very good actor and ...

This may not seem like the usual critique of a movie on DVD, but since this film has been available on DVD for some time, I thought I’d alert you to an interesting re-issue of the disk, with some added (some might say taken away) features. If you’re looking for a blow-by-blow account of the movie itself look elsewhere.

TF&TF is an ideal movie for showing off your equipment, and so it was with some interest that I noticed the emergence of the so-called ‘SUPERBIT’ version of the DVD, retailing for £9.99.
Superbit? Let me explain. One of the so-called advantages of DVD over VHS movies, is the ability to add extra material, such as “The Making of…” or out-takes and the like. Of course, this all uses up precious ...

...and I came out of the cinema not really knowing whether I loved or hated the film. I suppose I loved the Fast and the Furious because it was action packed, unpredictable and kept me in permanent suspense. Though I hated it because there wasn't any basic storyline or plot. And I've never seen a film that has no basic storyline or plot so did I genuinely hate the film or was I just simply scared of something different to a typical film? What the Fast ... ...seems to excel in keeping the viewers attention throughout the film. Unfortunately though the Fast and the Furious has plenty not going in its favour. The Fast and the Furious seems to have a beginning and a middle, the so-called ending is disappointing and inconclusive. ...

The fast and the FURIOUS! Ok, it is fast and it is most definetly furious! What gone in 60 seconds (angelina jolie, nicolas cage) should have been!
When I first heard about the fast and the furious, I just imagined it to be as dissapointing as gone in 60 seconds was! (although it was still a good film!) and did not make immediate plans to attend the preview! Then I saw the film trailer. WOW. just as I never imagined, cars. car chases, and more cars.
... ...chase! (unlike gone in 60)
The trailer alone was exciting and fun, although you may think all the best bits have been crammed into it, you'd be wrong! There's plenty more action where that came from!
An under cover cop has been sent to join a gang of road racers, who they believe to be armed hi-jackers. The hi-jackers are masked professionals who have hi-jacked a lorry full of DVD players worth lots of money!

"The Fast and the Furious" is based on a fairly simple premise; a cop goes undercover to infiltrate an illegal street racing team who may be involved in a series of truck hijackings. Things are complicated when he falls for Mia, the sister of Dominic Toretto, the charismatic gang leader. Then he must chose between loyalty to his new friends and his duty as a police officer.
This is an action film, pure and simple. Only one sentence is spoken during ... ...of set pieces interlinked with the usual action film banter. However, unlike last year’s abysmal "Gone in Sixty Seconds", there is an attempt at a plot and some semblance of character development. Although we are basically presented with a number of stereotypes, (the tough guy with a tragic past, the cop who loves to defy authority, the tomboy mechanic, the loyal thug and the smart kid from a broken home), one can’t help but like them ...

...meant buying 'The Fast and the Furious' the first movie. I first saw the movie on Sky when it was released, and had no idea who Vin Diesel (The Chronicles of Riddick), Paul Walker (2F2F) or Michelle Rodriguez (S.W.A.T.) were.

We next meet Brian Spilner, an undercover cop working to expose a group of street racers who are hijacking trucks and selling the goods.

The Fast and The Furious has an almost identical story to Point Break.
The Characters
--------------
The characters are all very basic. There's the young, handsome police officer, the beautiful women, the mis-understood leader who's wanted by the police and the token naiive character who is the akilies heel of the leader.
The Story
---------
An undercover cop tries to act like one of the gang so he can bring the leader to justice, but falls ... ...ends up feeling sorry for the leader and puts his career and life on the line to save his new found best friend. Can you say puke?
