THE PLOT
Brian O’Conner (Actor Paul Walker from films such as ‘Timeline’ and ‘Roadkill’) is a cop looking to ‘up his badge’ by taking on an undercover job to find out who are the perpetrators behind a recent spate of ‘Lorry-Jacking’ incidents. The police/FBI believe these robberies are linked to a particular group of members of the L.A. ‘Import’ Street Race (‘Ricer’) scene as the victims keep reporting a Tag-Team of ‘Tricked-Out’ jet-black colour ... ...desperate to get in on the L.A. Street Race scene and has allegedly come all the way from Arizona in his rather nicely tuned green Mitsubishi Eclipse with a view to staking his claim … Hell! He even gets a job working at the local tuning shop ‘The Racer’s Edge’ to further add credibility! To begin with … things don’t go quite to plan for Brian – firstly he falls foul of the anti-hero ‘Alpha’ Male, king of the street, Dom Toretto (played by the extremely ...

...a film that leaves all the other current offerings trailing in it’s wake!
Those of you that were disappointed by last year’s ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ (and there were many!) – this is the big CAR film that movie should have been.
It features Paul Walker (most recently seen in ’The Skulls’) as the clean cut cop, Brian O’Conner, whose job it is to infiltrate an illegal street racing operation. The cars are ... ...are seedy and menacing.
The FBI start to get interested in the racers because when they are not working on their mean machines or racing for $$$$ - they are out hi-jacking truck loads of DVD players. So into the inner circle of the speed freak circus goes our hero Brian - Armed with the necessary ‘attitude’ and a souped up Honda Civic! The leader of the fastest car gang, Dom Toretto, is played by new hard man heart-throb Vin Diesel. ...

Advantages: The car race scenes are exceptional... Disadvantages: Poor script, unimpressive performances, borrowed plot...
The Fast and The Furious has all the ingredients to be the ultimate testosterone driven guy film. Stunning looking hyper performance cars with all the latest performance gadgets, lingering gratuitous camera shots of a variety of eye candy and impressive camera work capturing high octane action in the form of illegal road races. Unfortunately it has a plot borrowed straight from Point Break and editing that leaves far too many periods of the film ... ...generate any real enthusiasm. The plot simply swaps the backdrop of surfing for that of road racing and casts Paul Walker (of The Skulls fame) in the Keanu Reeves role as undercover cop, Brian O'Conner. his mission is to try to uncover the identity of a hi-jack team whose modus operandi involves intricate driving of three heavily modified Honda Civics with the aim of relieving truck drivers of their vehicles. ...is a “chick flick” then The Fast and The Furious must surely be a “dick flick”. Completely absent of the sorts of thing a filmmaker would normally throw in to appeal to the ladies, this is a film made purely for the fellas. Watching the Fast and The Furious is rather like watching Top Gear on speed – it’s completely non-stop, completely out of its skull and completely pointless. You’ll need your reading glasses ... ...The Fast and The Furious is set amidst the Los Angeles speed racing circuit. Dominic Toretto is the current champion and local hero. Spending his days languishing in a back street grocery store, Toretto and his gang come to life at night, when they take to the city streets and race their super-charged cars. The stakes are high, with big cash up for grabs, respect and attitude to be earned and lost, and a certain element of danger. New boy Brian wants ...

...recently, so I leapt at the opportunity to buy The Fast and the Furious on special offer! I sat down last night to watch it, with the full intention of drooling at Vin Diesel and Paul Walker (Well, I have been single nearly 6 months now!!).
I have heard mixed reviews of this film, people either love it or hate it. So, which category would I fall into?
The story is fairly simple. The film begins with the hijacking of a truck, by men in 3 black Honda ... ...of the truck with its cargo of valuable electronics.
We then jump to Brian (Paul Walker), who wants to join the street racing set. He works in a car parts company and every day goes to the shop/sandwich bar owned by Dom (Vin Diesel). His apparent interest is Dom's sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster).
He slowly enters Dom's world. He challenges Dom to a race. He just loses, then helps Dom escape from the police after the race. He becomes part of the ...

The Street Racing culture in downtown LA is getting out of control and in particular someone from that scene has started hijacking lorries. Worried that the truck drivers will take the law into their own hands the LAPD put one of their own cops, Brian O’Connor, undercover on an FBI lead investigation to try and find out who is behind these attacks. O’Connor gets himself in with one of the Street Racing scene’s top dogs Dominic Toretto, the main suspect ... ...It’s been 8 years since the release of the original Fast and The Furious and despite the 3 sequels that followed it. It has remained the best film in the series. It has a little something for everyone with fast cars and a lot of action the film can appeal to a broad spectrum of viewers. The plot on the whole isn’t too taxing and while it keeps a decent story moving at a reasonable pace it is exactly what it says on the tin, an action film with Cars. ...

...a good starting point, so the Fast and the Furious wins there. This however is a good film, as well as action and fast cars it is a very enjoyable watch. Advantages: Lives up to its name with plenty of fast cars Disadvantages: Acting and plot are hackneyed in places
‘The Fast and the Furious’ is a film that delivers exactly what you expect – plenty of fast cars, scantily-clad women, Vin Diesel flexing his muscles and a pumping, bass-heavy soundtrack. This is ideal viewing for that night in with mates and a beer or two, when all you want is ... ...The plot is wafer thin, and seems to lurch along from event to event rather than being developed smoothly over the course of the film. The core of the film takes the form of street racing in and around Los Angeles, as various gangs (Latino, triad and local) vie for dominance and tune up their customised cars to ridiculous levels in the search for the extra second of pace over the quarter-mile drag tracks.
Vin Diesel is Dominic Toretto, the leader ...

...reasons why we go to the cinema. Sometimes we need to be taken to another world, another reality where unreal things are done. Once again the Vamp’s writing about one of his finds in this Tuesday’s ‘buy 3 DVD’s for Ł25’ star-find - this time being the speed-freak thriller - ‘The Fast and The Furious’, a movie that I’ve wanted to buy for a long time but all the time I’ve begrudged paying full price for it for a while as the words ‘mixed reviews’ comes to mind. Advantages: Great action, acting and plot Disadvantages: none
The Fast and the Furious is about cars… fast cars. This however isn’t all the film is about as it manages to have a good plot too. Most of does revolve around cars to its advantage.
The plot centres on a group, led by Dominic "Dom" Toretto (Vin Diesel) that race high performance cars on the streets of Los Angeles. It is suspected that some of the group are hi-jacking trucks and stealing millions of pounds in DVD players and other valuables. ... ...O'Conner (Paul Walker) infiltrates the group as Brian Earl Spilner. The plot is complicated when the cop falls in love with Dom’s sister.
The acting is excellent from all involved considering most of them are relatively unknown. Paul walker does a brilliant job as the undercover cop. He manages to appear convincing in the car scenes and stunts. Vin Diesel is superb and manages to give a great performance. He too looks great behind the wheel ...

Advantages: Fast, loud and cool Disadvantages: Skinny on action (due to small budget)
For a movie about the illegal world of street racing and daring car-assisted hijacks, there isn’t as much vroom vroom action as I was expecting in this, Rob Cohen’s seventh directorial adventure (his other efforts including Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and The Skulls).
The movie opens with a slick truck theft, using a few fast cars and a harpoon, which sets the tone nicely for the daredevil action to follow. What it doesn’t do is ... ...robbery scenes. No ripping off the balaclava and seeing the lead criminal go “Phew! What a rush, dude!” here.
After the initial burst of action, we are introduced to Brian (Paul Walker from She’s All That) as he tests the speed of his car on an empty racetrack. His displeasure with the car’s performance is a window into his motivations later in the movie. Anyway, Brian has been hanging around a sandwich shop run by Mia (Jordanna ...

...decide to go out to the cinema to watch one. Sometimes you do not care if the plot is thinner than Ally McBeal on a diet and little more than a clothes peg upon which to hang a bunch of mindless stunts upon. Sometimes you need a movie like The Fast And The Furious.

On the case is undercover cop Brian Spindler(Paul Walker) who tries to infiltrate a particular gang thought to be responsible lead by Dom Toretto(Vin Diesel).
