Advantages: New slant to a horror movie, bit of religious insight Disadvantages: Not sure - see review though
...out of curiosity, having seen the trailer, which features the hallucination of a University student turning round with black liquid pouring out of his eyes. I didn’t understand what it was meant to be but that freaked me out enough to make me want to watch the film – so onto my rental list it went. I must admit my expectations were mistaken, but I blame the trailer for the impression it gave. Yes, it is a horror movie, but there is more to it than ...

Advantages: Based on a true story Disadvantages: Not as scary as it has been made out
After all of the media hype that this film was exceptionally scary (and being an avid horror fan) I snapped this film up when I saw it on sale. I paid in the region of £14.99 for the unseen version, and was ever so excited to watch this, as I do like my horror films to frighten me. If you shop around, you can find this DVD on sale priced from £2.99 to £9.99 so my advice is to shop around for a bargain.

Advantages: Deep, thought provoking Disadvantages: A little cliched
The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on the true story of a girl who was killed during an exorcism ritual in the 1970s.
The film begins at the end. Emily (Jennifer Carpenter) has died during an exorcism performed by Father Moore (Tom Wilkinson). The story is told through flashbacks as Moore stands trial for negligent homicide, defended by Erin Bruner (Laura Linney) who herself comes under supernatural attack from the forces of darkness.

Advantages: somewhat gripping, story is ok Disadvantages: no proper special effects, not the scariest movie
Well, in the 70s I suppose this was a scary movie, but after the Exorcist, Silent Hill and The Hills Have Eyes, it's just another movie that fails to grip.
All starts with a priest being accused of negligence in a courtroom. Apparently he performed an exorcism ritual on 20-year-old Emily Rose who died from the consequences. According to doctors, she was not possessed, just epileptic.
That's where a female lawyer Erin is called in to defend him ...

Advantages: Its gripping and will keep you watching Disadvantages: Some may find it a little slow at first
Within the first 15-20 minutes of a film starting you instantly know whether the film you are watching is good or bad. It decides whether or not the seat you are sitting in or the sofa you are lying on will be your domain for the next two hours.
So knowing the above you may want to go and get all snacks and beverages beforehand because you will not want to miss or pause any of this great film.
Tom Wilkinson is fantastic as the Priest, who is ...
