She soon realises that unfortunately, for her, first you have to get the connections before you can actually get accepted for a job writing for any substantial magazine in New York. So after repetitively interviewing and being rejected for several writing jobs by many magazines, she turns up at “Runway”, the biggest fashion “book” in the business and applies for an assistant job ...

...editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. In the book the Devil was named Miranda Priestly, and Runway magazine served as Vogue's alter ego. Apparently, the hot-selling novel devotes a ton of pages to Ms Weisberger's tale of woe under La Anna's reign of terror. Now such a story would find little favour with me as wretched whining and annoying victimhood are not my idea of a fun read. Fortunately, the film adaptation improves upon this by, among other things, ...

...I didn't see it at the cinema, although I had been mildly tempted out of curiosity, it is not the sort of thing I normally go for. Nevertheless, I didn't mind watching it on telly when I had little else to be doing! I'd seen plenty of trailers, so had some vague ideas about the film, so my expectations were not too high.

After a dreadful interview with the completely disinterested Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) ...

The Devil Wears Prada is the film adaptation of a book with the same name. I must confess to not having read the book, but I have seen the film so this is a film only review.
Our heroine is Andi (Anne Hathaway) who has recently earned a good degree and moved to New York to pursue her dreams of becoming a journalist. Unfortunately journalism proves very difficult to break into, so as well as sending her details to lots of magazines, she signs up ...

Advantages: Meryl Streep, fun film, good soundtrack Disadvantages: A lot of changes from the book which is annoying if you've read the book!
I actually read the book which was the basis for this film last spring, before I knew that they were turning it into a Hollywood blockbuster. I really enjoyed the book, and found it laugh-out-loud funny, so I had really high expectations for the film, especially when I read that both Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were going to be starring in it. So here goes my review of The Devil Wears Prada.
As previously mentioned, the film is based on the ...

...not time and then theres the disagreeing on what to watch. So when my other half went away for a couple of nights I took advantage and watched The Devil Wears Prada knowing it would definately not be his cup of tea. Before I start I would like to point out that as this is a dvd rental it is a review of the film only.
The film was produced in 2006 and directed by David Frankel (previously involved with Sex and The City the TV Show). The screenplay ...

Advantages: Great cast and soundtrack Disadvantages: The ending is very different to the book, and quite disappointing
I first saw The Devil Wears Prada while I was in America during the summer. It wasn't something I would have picked myself, due to thinking that it was all going to be about fashion and shoes and bags and all that kinda thing that really doesn't interest me. But I did see it, and I did enjoy it. I was given the book as a gift for Christmas, so I thought it was time to revisit the movie to see how well it had made the changeover.

...becoming a journalist. This is the situation that Andrea, (Anne Hathaway), finds herself in, although the job she had in mind is very different to the opportunity which presents itself as Assistant to the Editor in Chief of Runway magazine.
At the beginning of the film, we see her going for her interview, and the interview being interrupted by the entrance of the boss, Miranda Priestley (played by Meryl Street), which should have given poor Andrea ...

Advantages: Witty commentary on today's society Disadvantages: The portrait is truer than it should be
I fought of the urge to see this film for a long time as like Andy, I felt no connection with the world of fashion and trend and felt sure I would be bored senseless by an endless parade of ultra-thin models and mean stylists. It wasn't until flipping through the movie channels while home in Canada that I stumbled across this and faced with little alternative decided to give it a chance.

The devil wears Prada is a 2006 comedy drama film directed by David Frankel and starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. I had actually read the book of The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger before seeing this film for the first time and therefore think I may have a slightly different opinion to someone who has not read the book.
The plot of the film is that a young girl called Andrea who has just graduated from college is out to find her first job. She really wants to become a journalist but knows she must find any way into the industry she can. She ends up ...

I reckon that the value of this film is NOT dependant on the way it ends, and so I have reviewed the whole film, including the last 5 minutes.
Sadly that has annoyed some readers, so I have now inserted this warning to you.!
**** If you prefer to read reviews of films that are truncated by witholding of important aspects of the film's purpose and message, and in particular, the way in which the script writer has constructed the closing 5 minutes, ...
