"Departed" isn't just about what lies under the belly of Boston's clever workingman exterior, as the title implies it is about those who pass on before us, why and who gets left behind. A rather cold, business-like and mock polite label for the truth left behind, revealed or unrevealed, when a person becomes an empty body. Typically a heck of a mess that someone else will be cleaning ...

...graced our screens in 1995, the last "mob" movie we have seen by Martin Scorsese, arguably the finest director of crime pictures. Indeed, since then, with the exception of a couple of films, the mob movie has gradually died out. So when the finest director of crime pictures releases a film of the crime genre, it's difficult not to get excited. That's what sets the Departed apart from its siblings; it's all about the plot, and less about the day-to-day dealings of its characters that has made Scorsese so popular in the past. In many ways, this is Scorsese taking his films to a new level, and is breaking new ground. However, this is a double-edged sword, which is in part ...

The departed is a remake of the popular film; internal fairs which see Martin Scorsese, one of the finest directors of our generation make a return to the ‘Mob’ gangster theme he has done so well with in the past. The film itself follows the high standards set by Scorsese with great attention to detail and there are a number of stand-out ...

Advantages: Good Performance by Leo Disadvantages: Where to start!!
The Departed is an OK film. But considering that the original Infernal Affairs is a great film, it's actually sad that most people will only ever see this OK version. Apart from Leonardo, I normally rate the actors in this film, but none of them really shone here for me. Martin Sheen never had a chance to make me like him, so I could care less at what happened to his character. I think the problem was in actually adding the Mark Wahlberg & Alec Baldwin ... ...So much of the original films subtly has been sledge hammered away leaving less to the imagination. The whole - "Cop or Criminal, what does it matter when you're looking down the barrel of a gun" - in the opening scene is Scorsese hammering the point home before the film hardly starts, yet seems to miss out on keeping that theme of identity throughout the film. Andy Lau (playing the original character Damon now plays) was tortured in Infernal Affairs; ...
