...of this calibre come out the only words are ‘GO AND SEE IT’ The film begins with drama and continues throughout, the special effects in this film are the best that I have ever seen. Even though this film is fiction it plays out what could actually happen to the northern hemisphere. The film has a sub-story of a son being abandoned by his father but as with all Hollywood films the father comes through in the end. The story of the film is strong ...
...which fits superbly well with the story. The chosen actors are a credit to the production and the direction. The main reason I bought this DVD was Dennis Quaid but I found his performance a bit tired and uninspired. There were good points to the film such as the special effects, the sientific dimension and the dramatic sense of impending doom. Although they went to some length explaining the possible rationale for the weather phenomenom, I was not completely convinced, having made the integrity of the science an issue if you don't find it convincing it ...
...found the lack of a female hero{all right...the lack of eye candy} frustrating, although the younger characters did make an effort they didn't have the sex appeal or were likeable enough to make a difference. However although watchable it was a bit disapointing and you have to have the heating turned up whilst watching or else you start feeling the effects of all the snow and ice, I think I would have preffered a heatwave as the disaster aspect. ...

Some of the visual effects in this film were simply stunning however you got the feeling that most of them were shown in the trailers. Thats not to say there wasnt good material outwith the trailer, however, the best was shown up front. Its like a comedy you see when the trailer is funnier than the film. For someone familiar with the NY manhatten area, the birds eye view of manhatten filling with water would probably be emotional and impressive. ...

...and had no idea what the film was about when i wacthed it i was pleasantly surprised. Ok the storyline was a bit corny, sort of like ' the americans save the world again' but i kinda liked it. I love films which feature extreme weather and loved the atmosphere of it.
