Advantages: Good effects Disadvantages: you already know the storyline
The Day After Tomorrow was, I have to say, was a bit of a disappointment. It was not a bad film but it just was not worth all the build up and excitement. The reason I did not enjoy it that much was that it made absolutely no lasting impression on you. I can remember the story and the characters but at no point was I overwhelmed or amazed by it.
As everybody will have seen from the trailers, the plot is very simple. Polar ice caps are melting and ... ...a second ice age. Then the storyline talks about how different people survive (or don’t).
One thing that I did think was well done was the special effects. For example, there were wolves, which before hand I found out were computer generated so I was expecting big lumps with legs and a head, but they actually looked real! You could see the hairs that did not face all one direction and some were different colours, the level of detail was great. ...

Advantages: Special effects.. Disadvantages: poor sub ploy
I finally got to see the most awaited line in Hollywood of natural disaster movies “The day after tomorrow” by a well known director of independence day - Roland Emmerich. And like his previous attempts he has not failed to amaze us again.
The film is basically about the global warming, waned by the media to come about in the next couple of hundred years, only this movie starts off by saying its six to twelve months and then turns out to be actually ... ...Los Angeles, hailstones which are the size of golf balls (which I have to admit looked bigger) and of course the tidal waves before it the end of the world scenario turns to the ice age. I have to say I was disappointed to see that there was little about other countries and mainly based around NEW YORK! And only New York – forget the rest of the USA. The nail biting ice age is one where the special effects take over the whole show. The eye of the ...

It starts of with Jack Hall giving an important speech about the possible chance of the world going through a second ice age because of the melting of the ice caps causing a disturbance to the flow of heat above the equator. (Which face it, could very well damn happen!!!!) He ... ...and doing something to save the world, as this ice age could happen within 100 years.
In true movie style, 100 years is simply too far away and infact, the climate starts to make a startling change for the worse in the US. We discover that everywhere over the north of the Equator will infact turn to ice, and there is a massive tornado-like ice storm over Scotland, Serbia and... sorry, I forget. There's also huge ice hailstones in Hong Kong killing ...

The Day After Tomorrow is a film not to be missed an excellent story starring Dennis Quaid as Jack Hall and Jake Gyllenhaal as his son, who get torn apart when global warming triggers the onset of a new ice age. ...Although 'The End of the World As We Know It' flicks are commonplace, I'm not aware of any others with such a big budget that took the global warming idea to this extreme. The special effects in the trailers were impressive and they were even more so during the film.
However, that's where the positives end for me. So much more could have been done with this film. There is an entire world entering a new Ice Age but all we get if a few American schoolkids, ... ...father of the lovesick adolescent) striving to get back together.
Aside from a token couple of minutes of snow in India and a couple of scenes in a weather post in Scotland, it seems the Ice Age only really bothers the US. The Scottish scenes are typical Hollywood as well, with the country being one huge wilderness and obviously having no cities at all.
So we get the extras determined to do the obviously stupid thing and go out in the snow, while ...

With all the big talk about Spider-Man II, Harry Potter, Troy and various other summer blockbusters, one film that seems to have silently gone about its hype is Roland Emmerich's The Day After Tomorrow.

Advantages: Very thought provoking, superb special effects Disadvantages: George W. Bush failed the audition as President
This was the best film that I have seen.
That doesn't make it a great film necessarily, but it had all the right ingredients to keep the audience watching from start to finish.
It had similarities with Titanic in that compared to the overall plot, the stories involved were at times contrived, but it was not really the sub-plot, or at times slightly dodgy acting, that raised any comment on leaving the cinema.
Most importantly it was extremely thought ... ...- climate change leading to the ultimate destruction of mankind.
The political issues were actually handled in a brilliantly understated yet powerful manner. The President's final speech regarding the southern hemisphere giving refuge to the world's most affluent nationalities was particularly poignant.

The hype before I went to see the movie was very impressive, from what all of my friends said it was a good movie a must see. As I had seen Independence Day from the same director I thought it would be well worth watching. Although I was not disappointed with the movie in certain areas it lacked a certain umph about it. I didn't actually see The Day After Tomorrow when it had it's cinematic release last year and have only just watched the DVD. I decided when I saw the trailer for the film , that it wasn't my cup of tea but after much persuading from my friends I watched the DVD and I'm glad i have.

I have seen all the advertising for this film for ages and was really looking forward to watching it ....I wasnt disappointed! Advantages: Great Graphics, Pretty Good Sound Disadvantages: Totally Unrealistic
The Day After Tommorow... a decent title.... but somewhat questionable... because it took about 10 days to change the world in the film instead of 3 days.
This film is just poor considering the storyline. I wasted £12.99 on it why? because it was made by the same people who created the masterpiece of Independance Day, I have a hobby for Twisters and i'm genuinly interested in Geography.
Graphically i can definately say that this film is very good. ... ...the wall.... but would any of you watch it again.... i'd really doubt it.
The biggest flaw has to be the storyline... anyone who has done GCSE Geography would know that what happens in the film is just totally unrealistic and it wont happen at this moment in time and certainly not in 10 days. Basically the storyline is... with Global Warming being a problem, and Ice Cap the size of Rhode Island breaks off from the Artic and melts causing a massive ...
