Advantages: Decent cast and director

Disadvantages: This makes you realize how much you miss something half-decent

As noted in the heading this is a review of the film, seen recently on Sky. I have not read the book, but gathered from the media that the story was nonsense. Disadvantages: Somewhat of a let down in some respects to the book (but could be worse)

The Da Vinci Code is based on Dan Browns novel (of the same name). Whether you've read the book or not will probably determine what you think of the film. If you have read the book, this should of been the one film which you could not wait to see. If you have not read the book you may of noticed the hype. In my opinion the film in no way lives upto the book but for a fast paced murder thriller it is certainly worth a watch or two. We Brought the DVD a few weeks after it was realeased. After all the hype, it was a bit of a let down. However, having read the book before hand, it was slightly impressive and I could just about work out what was happening. The action was good and their was a lot of symbolysm used in the film to make it more effective - though i must explain that i didn't notice it until i watched the special features on the bonus disk. At last the long awaited book has been brought to the big screen and I have to say I think it will fascinate newcomers and disapoint those who are big fans of the book. The problem with a book as famous as The Da Vinci code is that when you read it, you conjour up your own ideas and visualisations of characters and locations and these can be destroyed when a director puts his own interpretation onto big screen for all to see. Disadvantages: maybe a bit long

After the mysterious murder in the Paris Louvre reknown Dr. Robert Langdon gets called in to help with the investigation of a curator. There he meets Agent Sophie Neveu, who as a cryptologist seems to also have been called to the scene of the crime. As it turns out Robert is actually a murder suspect and Captan Bezu Fache has a special reason to suspect this- an underhand info of a member of Opus Dei. I must say I feel the book was alot better than the movie. However I liked the fact the the movie elaborated on scenes from the book. After watching the Da Vinci Code, I feel like I had a better understanding of the characters and what they were about.
