...it so good. What with the live action “Thunderbirds” about to hit cinema screens, the latest instalment of live action Scooby Doo and now a real time follow up to the Brian Grazer produced “The Grinch” in the shape of “The Cat in the Hat”, it seems evident that Hollywood hasd re-discovered the virtues of pester power. I know many of you have been anticipating and patiently waiting for another film review from me, so here is the first one after almost a month’s absence…not counting my last one on the Academy Awards of course. So, for tonight I will be reviewing a film that only can be labeled as a disappointment. I’m sure many people (most notably kids) will be wanting to see this film on April 2nd, its ...

...ago when I first saw the trailer for this film. Little did I know then I would in fact venture out of my dark home to go and see it for my very small brother's 7th birthday party. So, at first I had no intentions of wanting to see it especially, and thought little of it, other than the fact that it looked quite funny as it had Mike Myers in it. Obviously you have to be a Mike Myers fan if you are ever to see this movie and generally you have to have ... ...a film that really fits the adult market too well, as it is one of those films that kids will adore and adults will grin and bear, but half way through this as I watched with grumpy eyes I began to think that this was actually quite funny.
I use the expression quite funny mainly because that is what I mean; there were a few moments where I laughed very quietly, and other times I was merely amused by what was happening on the screen. I noticed however ...

...adored Dr. Seuss. I had the entire collection read them almost every day. When my sister brought home the DVD of the Cat in the Hat, which had always been one of my favourite characters I was sceptical. I was worried that it would spoil my childhood memories of the wonderful Dr. Seuss. Nevertheless I sat down and watched the movie from start to finish.
The rhyming at the beginning eases gently into the story while still remaining Dr. Seuss-esque. ... ...The mother working in real estate with a troublesome son, Conrad, and well behaved daughter, Sally. The apparently perfect boyfriend living next door. All seemed about right for a Dr. Seuss until the cat arrives on the scene. I felt the voice of the cat could have been selected better as Mike Myres is somehow overpowering and not really what I had expected. This was the first major disappointment that the film brought for me, from here in I found ...

...on, my favourite book in the whole wide world, The Cat in The Hat. The rhyming was somewhat satisfying and fun, and the suspense was brilliant, it is amazing how it is so possible to love and hate a creature like the cat so much. Am I going to deep? Advantages: Fun for kids with a few adult jokes thrown in Disadvantages: none
I went to see the 'Cat in the Hat' today at my local UGC cinema. The film, I think, is aimed at the 5-12 age bracket. Older kids would probably be bored. It ran for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Dr Seuss. I have read bits of the book but not enough to know if the film follows it closely or not (I doubt it though because the film is quite modern and the book's really old). This live action adaptation looks more like a remake of Home Alone than a Dr Seuss story. Having read a few Seuss stories and watched The Grinch I thought that I knew what to expect from this film. I was wrong.
Little of the actual Seussian rhyming has been incorporated. In fact it’s heard only in narrative form, in small excerpts, that bookend the action.
This is a genuine disappointment as the remainder of the script, ...

The Cat In The Hat- not just for Children, I find this hilarious! I first came across this film when my boyfriend bought me it as a present one day. I sat down to watch and found myself not just laughing the whole way though but repeating all the funny voices! With Mike Myers as the voice over, it adds to the comedy of the film! The Film This film came out in 2004 and was released as an animation film which is certainly correct! The film starts with ... ...nothing to do. Advantages: The props and furniture etc are bright and chunky making its very unusual and funny to watch! Disadvantages: Sally and Conrad's mum have an admirer who is a disgusting man who wants to send Conrad away.
When I first watched the 'Cat in the Hat' I was a bit younger than I am now but still I find it very humorous now I am about 7 years older. Mike Myers acting is obviously spectacular even though he is playing another mammal. The two children accompanying him are also very good and confident.
The film consists of Sally and Conrad alone at home while there mum is at work, they are bored with no games to play and out pops the Cat with props and fun ... ...lot of mess but with the help of the Cat's helpers 'Thing One and Thing Two' they might just be lucky in making it all back to normal again.
Overall in my opinion the film is great for the whole famiily as it covers all emotions and teaches children about promises and love. Definitley a great buy! ...

...read to my kids is The Cat in the Hat, so when I managed to get some free time today I took my excited 6 year old and 3 year old (well next week she’s 3!) to see it.
First impressions were very good. The sets looked wonderful, just as you would expect from a Dr Suess based film, the narration was in Suess rhyme too. So far, so good.
The filmmakers have added a few characters into the mix; they have turned Sally and Conrad's mother from a mere pair ... ...and nasty potential suitor to the kids mum, Lawrence Quinn (Alec Baldwin). The voice of the fish and Joan Walden's (the Mum) boss is played by Will & Graces Sean Hayes.
The film goes down hill once The Cat actually appears. His first admission is that he can’t rhyme very well. What! The Cat in the Hat with no rhyme? Exactly. Sacrilege.
Mike Myers isn’t very good at all. There is nothing original about his performance at all. His voice is very like ...

...years of age, and from the cover, i had a sneaking suspicion this film could be too childish for me. However, I could not have been more wrong. The film follows Sally and Conrad, brothers and sisters living in a very quirky town, who are locked in on a rainy day. They are visited by a large talking cat (played by Mike Meyers) who causes much disruption for them. The town reminded me massively of 'The Grinch', because of it's over-colourful nature ... ...all from the film, giving it a much more comic-like style. I enjoyed the film immensely, it covers all the comical bases, keeping young children entertained with its zanny ideas and colourful images, but also has a lot of adult humour to keep the adults happy as well. In my opinion, this is a massively worthwhile film to watch, for all the family. Its quirky, colourful and happy, and left me smiling from the start right through until the end. ...

Advantages: Enjoyable for children Disadvantages: Slow moving, unfunny jokes, bad transition from book-to-film
The book by Dr. Seuss has to be one of the world's largest known books, and children all around the world have read it atleast thirty times - or atleast the children who I work with on a Wednesday afternoon lay the claim to doing. What was that made the film so tedious?
At the start, the setting of the film is far too cheesy - you could argue that this is where the land of Seuss meets the cinematography era, but the set looked like it was chalked ... ...sets an awful tone for the film, as you know the budget is little-to-nothing. Also, at one part of the film, it is definately reminiscent to the Bubbleworks at Chessington's in the UK.
The acting, from the two youngsters, was in whole good - they are a remarkable talent for their age, but it seemed to be forced at times. I love to see this in films occasionally, but overacting ruins the part, especially as the children's role in the film isn't as ...

The Cat in the Hat is about a brother and sister named Sally and Conrad, Conrad is very cheeky and naughty wheras Sally is well behaved but doesnt have fun.
