Advantages: totally realistic Disadvantages: the recording is a bit shakey
The Blair witch project is an excellent film, and worth buying on DVD due to the special features which include extra pieces about the history of witchcraft, and a full length commentary which reveals interesting facts about how they made the movie, the most interesting of which is that the actors had no idea about the bundle of sticks or the hanging figures made from grass. The film itself i think was 100% realistic, as everybody knows it is all ... ...even from the start that it is real, basically three students are making a movie about the blair witch and they actually encounter something while they are making it. Is this the blair witch? or someone it is pocessing? in either case it is a film i will recommend and definately watch again. ...

Review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
Advantages: Disturbingly realistic performances Disadvantages: The hype and the BBFC.
...to have suffered from all the hype but I was truly surprised by what I got. Namely, a dratically censored version of what was released in America. By my calculations, and I better point out that I haven't scrutinised this in immense detail, there were 20 minutes missing from the original. Twenty minutes! That's a quarter of the plot for God's sake. As a result, scenes didn't make sense, the continuity was in shambles and the 'absolutely terrifying' ... ...greater experience.
The basic plot (as if it needs explaining)is that 3 students go into the woods to make a documentary about the legendary Blair Witch and realise that something is out to get them. And the acting was incredible, there's no two ways about it, and the unseen 'witch' was truly unsettling.
If you're going to see this film, have patience and wait until you're able to get your hands on an American copy. ...

Advantages: scarey Disadvantages: annoying, jerky camera
...went to see this at the cinema the first night it was released, and the cinema was jam packed. This is one of the few films I actually screamed at when I went to see it. It spooked me for days aftrwards, and i had to sleep with the ligths on for about 2 weeeks. It is most definately a must see. A few bits were quite complicated and i couldn't undertsand them, but overall it was really good. It was really cheaply made, which I guess was an attempt to ...

Advantages: Makes my Camcording Skills Look Professional Disadvantages: There's Not Enough Space on Here
The Blair Witch Project was released in UK cinemas around Halloween last year. The critics all claimed it was one of the most scariest movies ever to hit our screens, but boy, were they wrong! I have never seen such cack in my life. There was so much hype about it, with all the fake documentaries and websites etc. that everyone was fooled into believing it was based on a true story. Some people even thought the movie was actual footage found hidden ...

Advantages: A great DVD title Disadvantages: too short
If you go down in the woods today, etc etc etc. In the UK this film received a '15' rating, children can watch it.There is very little blood and gore, you never see the witch and there are no expensive special effects or atmospheric music.I have seen 'The Exorcist' and 'Blair Witch' ranks alongside it as one of the most disturbing and scary films ever made.It may not be original it borrows from the earlier independent film 'The Last Broadcast' but is ... ...students go into the woods to film a documentary about a witch, they never come back but the film does.A very simple story,a very cheaply made black and white film.An excellent film and one that I would recommend to anyone who is sick and tired of all the multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbusters. The DVD has loads of great extra features. ...

Review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Ripped off plot,Poor acting,Poor Directing etc.......
I bought the film because everyone was saying to me this film is the scariest thing ever made. Now I don't mean to diss the producers but the advery for Metz was alot scarier than this pile of rubbish.
Now I sat down to watch it with all the lights off in my house and waited for it to scare me......and I waited.......and waited....and waited.
Nothing happened during the whole film.
The one thing that was positive about the film was that it helped ... ...have to say about it was that the whole thing was ripped off from a lesser know film called Cannibal Holocaust(It's banned in most places so it was eay to plagirise).
I would only reccomend this film to insomniacs who would be out like a light before the films end. ...

Review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
Advantages: Is quite scary Disadvantages: Plays with your head a bit
The Blair Witch project is one of the scariest films I’ve seen. When you watch it, it’s not physically scary. It does play with your mind however. There’s no witch, ghost, or anything like that. But the three kids are clearly afraid of something that they never even seen, and nor does the audience see it. We do feel the fear that they felt. And this is what makes it one of the best horror films. Although, looking back now, it really wasn’t all that ...

Review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
Advantages: film students get plenty to write about Disadvantages: it's boring!
...to a Scout weekend in the Forest of Dean than a box office hit, The Blair Witch Project is little more than an exercise in innovative market hype. Whilst I've absolutely nothing against low budget movies ( the Brit's regularly churn out an abundance of very good ones ) this film seems content to justify its very existance purely on the premise that it is everything a Hollywood Blockbuster is not. The story is your usual run of the mill urban myth, ... ...twigs! By the time something really does happen to one of the characters, half the audience are asleep and the other half quietly muttering good riddance. The three 'unknown', and likely to remain so, leads are hopelessly inadaquate when dealing with a script that could have been written over a pint in a pub. The 'amateur' camera footage, whilst conceptually clever, lacks clarity. So whilst the actors 'go off on one' the audience are still endeavouring ...

...this and file it in the mass hysteria section . Seldom can many people have been taken in by so much hype .The only time I came remotely near to jumping during watching this film was when someone three seats behind gave a sudden hiccup .the only thing you could admire is the originality and nerve needed to release it to the general public .The camera work is atrocious(I know purists will say this is partly the charm of the film but I just found it ...

Review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
Advantages: doesn't rely on special effects to scare you Disadvantages: annoying voice of female student
...doubt heard all about how the makers of Blair Witch Project managed to beat big budget movies to become an overnight sensation on a minimal budget.
The plot of the film is that a group of students are researching the legend of the Blair Witch and armed with a camcorder they interview locals and embark on a trip into the woods to find out more, they disappear and their camcorder is found by the search party and the film that was in it is the movie.
... ...of this film comes from the fact that it doesn't show any blood and gore and doesn't rely on handing everything to the audience on a plate. Instead, through the use of shaky camera work and letting your imagination work overtime the film allows the audience to fill in the gaps. If like me you have an overactive imagination then you will probably scare yourself witless.
A lot of people I've spoken to found this film disappointing after all the hype ...

Advantages: unique way the film is made Disadvantages: shaky camera shots
Am I the only one who found the Blair Witch Project both scary AND good? All of my friends told me how unscary and rubbish this film was, and some even said they actually left the cinema during the film (I think it's because they were scared and won't admit it!).
The general story is (for those of you who have been living in Mars and don't know!) three youngsters go on a trek to film a documentary about an urban legend of the Blair Witch. Rumpour ... ...the local inhabitants of the village (formerly known as Blair) would dare to go up there. So, these three go up there alone and unarmed, and proceed to get very lost. The film is slow to warm up, with almost no background information given (who are these people and why are they up here?).
Having gotten lost they start to turn on each other and begin to fight. Then things start happening - spooky things. At first I wasn't sure whether one of them ...

Advantages: Originality Disadvantages: Poor implementation of a great idea
I walked into the cinema with a completely open mind for this one. I'd already heard some people who thought it was great, some who thought it was crap. The only way to settle this war of opinions in my head was to go and see it myself. Taking a look around me, even from the beginning of the film, I could tell that people were slightly shocked. They thought they were getting the nice, predictable, run of the mill hollywood blockbuster film that we've ... ...they'd spent about 4p on the entire film because it looked like something we could have made in GCSE Media Studies (for the princely sum of nothing). The actors were obviously sub-broadway rejects who were desperate for the cash. They're probably laughing all the way to the bank now, but I dont think they deserve to be. I am amongst the many who feel that Heather (the chick with the torch) should be strung up from the nearest tree, because she was ...

When I went to the cinema to watch "the scariest movie of all time" I thought that it was going to be good, how wrong I was. When the music of the opening title came on my mate told me how scared he was, I just laughed. I can't believe I managed to stay and watch the film all of the way through, it is the worst film I have ever seen. It is completely over rated, and as for people being sick in the aisles? Well the only thing I could think of they ... ...all of the snot coming out of the woman's nose. Was there any need for it? Please! It was just revolting and made you want to puke. There was not one single scary moment in the entire film, and I can't believe that they have managed to produce a sequel to it. I will be very surprised if it becomes a success. This is a definite no go to anybody who wants to spend their money on a good film. ...

...be disappointed. This was not the intention; rather the triumph of this film is what happens inside your head after you leave the cinema. Thankfully you do not see the 'witch', but it is the fact that the hapless teenagers are stalked by this phenomenon for a long time before it actually closes in that makes the film so powerful. The constant reminders that the teenagers are not alone, and the fact that the woods are actually quite open and light ...
