Advantages: ??? Disadvantages: BORING and CONFUSED
The Blair Witch Project has been hyped as one of the scariest movies ever. There is some nice characterisation of a bunch of thoroughly unpleasent young people, lots of shaky camera work and a few spooky sounds. However, apart from maybe the last minute it is not scary and never will be, DVD does not make the slightest difference. It is simply not worth spending the money on in any form, cinema, dvd etc just forget it. Never has left me a film so ...

Advantages: Clever, interesting plot Disadvantages: Not as good as people said
...it and going crazy - the queues outside the cinemas were enormous! I think that the main reason I didn't enjoy the film was because I was expecting more out of it. It wasn't too scary although due to the media hyping it all up, I was antisipating more scares. It was a clever film as it is made with cam-corders which makes it seem very realistic. The actors and actress who star in the film do a very good job and act normally, they wear normal clothes ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Boring, not at all scary, short
I watched the blair witch project last night and it totally did not scare me. I thought that it was going to be really scary and good from what I had heard from other people. The film is poorly made, I know it is supoosed to look as if it's all video footage but it makes the film look more rubbish. It lasted for about 80 minutes which isn't very long and the storyline was boring. The charcters weren't very strong and weren't convincing enough to ... ...kids making a project about the blair witch of a little town. She haunts the woods and kids have been known to have gone missing after entering the woods. So the 3 go in a spend 7 or 8 nights in the woods. They take a video camera with them and record everything. One of the 3 goes missing and the others go looking for him. They find a house and see him standing dead in a corner after the blair witch had torchured him. I thought the film was very ...

...room, with my headphones on the "witch" seemed to be all around me. This is a truly origional piece of cinema, which uses suspense as skillfully as Hitchcock. As enjoyable as it is believable. The documentary style, expecially in setting the tone at the beginning works very well. The end is clever and spooky. I found Blair Witch to be one of the best films of the year. The only possible downsides are Heather (watch and you'll find out why - my god ...

...unhappery campers on jerky footage. The film industry has really put one over on everyone with this offering. It follows a group of young adventurers who get lost somewhere in the backwoods and charts their progress as filmed by themselves. The only remotely interesting aspect I found was the conflict that arose between a couple of them when they argued over a map and their predicament. They see nothing bar a few 'voodoo' objects, and hear a few ...

Quick review of The Blair Witch Project (DVD)
After all the hype i was dying to see blair witch project, and for a serious horror fan, it really didnt live up to the hype. Admittedly the film was scary in places but the real let down for me was the filming. All the shakiness made me feel slightly dizzy and even nauseos at times. Overall a good film though! ...

...expect anything scary, or exciting. The Blair witch project is probably the most overhyped pile of trash that has ever made it to the Big Screen. I suppose this kind of movie must work well in the US, where it seems half the population must be afraid of witches. How can anyone even suggest that this movie is scary? It is simply frustrating (because of the total lack of common sense amonst the characters) and nauseating (because of the handheld camera ... ...effect isnt enough to drive the viewers out of their cinema then it is the the nasty feeling of having been conned into watching this utter waste of perfectly good filmroll. There really are very few redeaming moments to the film. My favourite part is when the guy admits that he kicked the map into the stream and seeing the other pathetic characters getting wound up about it. That was actually truly funny!! Unfortunately, though this scene doesn ...

...time but this film was the worst what a load of rubbish the special effects were non existent
and the acting was amateurish.
The story line was about a group of friends filming a short documentary of a local legend known as the 'Blair Witch'. They basically go to the forest where the legend was supposed to of happened and they end up having their own Blair Witch incident, namely they frighten the hell out of each other or so they think. The film ... ...it did so well at the cinema. The film was produced on a very small budget and oh boy did it show. If you like forests go to see this film its the only thing memorable about it - apart from a stupid hat a girl is wearing.
Another memorable thing about this film is its in black and white and half the time you have to use your own imagination as you really cannot see what is in front of you!! ...

The story line was pretty bad - the idea behnd the filming and production was terrible. It was boring, no exciting bits - I actually thought it had started to get going and the credits came up - that's how bad it was. I would have rather watched paint dry!!

Advantages: It was cheaply made. At least it's different. Disadvantages: Annoying characters, plotless, dire.
The Blair Witch Project - without doubt, the second most hyped movie of the last year (who could compete with Phantom Menace?) and, as with Phantom Menace, entirely undeservedly so.
It was made on a shoe-string budget. So? It's entirely unscripted. So? It's scary! No. It isn't.
This is quite frankly the worst film I've seen in a long time. It's an unscripted, meandering mess of a film, with no imagination, and little script beyond "Oh ...demise of whom is the only plus point the film has to offer. The closing shot isn't ambiguous - well, that is, if you kept up with the hype and watched the behind the scenes documentary shown on Sky... The DVD is the most complete way of enjoying the film, and the commentary is quite entertaining, but for the film itself? Forget it. ...

Some movies have the ability to temporarily lift us out of our ordinary day-to-day existence onto new planes full of adventure and excitement. For a little while we are there experiencing what seemed impossible. This movie does quite the opposite. We enter the viewing arena hoping to be transported out of normality but find ourselves thrown into a very raw reality. Big screen special effects are replaced by amateurish video camera footage; Super ...

...not. This has to be the saddest film I've seen in a long time. The only redeeming factor I can come up with, is that it wasn't me who rented the film and wasted £2.00.
So what the Hell was out there? And why did that bloody woman keep screaming and swearing at the others when she knew she had a camera quite obviously surgically strapped to her head. Didn't she think it might deafen us?
Well you've probably guessed it...I hated every minute of it. ...

Advantages: Great DVD Extras Disadvantages: Only really frightening if watched alone at night
Your reaction to the film will be polarised to either dismiss it as "student film garbage" or "the most frightening movie of 1999". However, there is no doubting the actual quality of the DVD. The recently recovered footage (deleted scenes to you and I) isn't that great but is fairly interesting. The commentary is much more ground breaking and refreshingly unpretentious. As for the "Curse" documentary, as long as you watch it afterwards, you'll really ...
