There have been varied reactions to this film, ranging from ‘a big pile of poo’ to ‘scariest movie ever made.’ ...

Advantages: Truly frightening, psychological rather than obvious. Some good extras, and the inclusion of the documentary is great. Interesting commentary Disadvantages: Some may find the lack of any real "evidence" of supernatural activity anoying. DVD extras shattered a couple of my illusions!
Please note, as in the film itself, there is an instance of foul language in this opinion, and if offended, please do not read the paragraph on performances.
Do you remember how excited the world was when this
film came out? The slew of "documentaries" that came with it, the praise for the innovative and interesting premise, and the fact that it proved just how useful the internet could be in marketing a film.
Remember how it also split opinion ...

...in your mind” may be the generic catchphrase of cocky psychologists everywhere, but that really is the case when it comes to the Blair Witch Project. The movie is something of a genre breaker in that you never actually see ‘the Blair Witch’ but it is up to you to imagine it and as such the film is only as scary as your imagination is active. This is largely the reason that the film has received a mixture of praise and criticism from pundits and filmgoers ...

Well, ok, maybe I could.
The hyped up film "The Blair Witch Project" was a budget movie, about 3 kids who go into the woods and get lost. Sounds scary? Perhaps - throw in a few stick figures, some gory stuff in a backpack, and you'd have a pretty terrifying movie if you ask me.
Plot - - -
It all starts when Heather Donahue (referred to ...

This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot
Well it was about time someone made a 1st person horror/documentary right? Now all my friends were telling me about this movie. They all also had different opinions about it as well. Some told me this movie was really cool others said it blew monkey ass. So the only way to figure out this complex mystery is to see this movie by myself. The only problem was I kept holding it off. It was on ...

...all those who have watched the Blair Witch Project have, as the cliché goes, either loved it or hated it. It would probably be in the best interests of this opinion for me to claim to be somewhere in the middle, undecided as it were, and it would be easiest and most obvious for me to slate it, but I think it’s going to be more fun just to like it, so there you go.
Most people who disliked The Blair Witch Project watched the film expecting ...

After reading this advert for the movie The Blair Witch Project, I just had to see it. I use the word movie, but it is actually supposed to be a documentary, so please forgive me if I call this a movie.

...probably just about everyone on the planet knows, this film was one of the most hyped movies ever. The story goes that it is real video footage shot by 3 film students who went missing in 1994, and their footage was found a year later and made into this film. Amazingly, a lot of Americans believed this, and believed it really was a true story - thanks to a website which detailed the Legend of the Blair Witch. In many ways this seems laughable - if ...

...go and see it in the cinema, it’s been released on video/DVD since Oct 26, 1999 too but there again, that meant me actually buying or renting it, it was then shown on Sky Box Office for a while but there again, I’d have to pay for that. So, needless to say, when I saw it in the ‘Weekend TV Guide’ I decided I’d record it and watch it ASAP in order to review it for ciao (all in the name of ciao research you understand!).

They begin with talking to people in Burkitsville, formerly Blair, about the Blair witch, visiting the cemetery and talked a bit about how this small town started with 200 people, and even read a portion of the legend of the Blair Witch. I liked what they did with this. I think I did because it gave a feel for the townspeople and a bit of its history. ...

All the critics and all your mates probably told you what a rubbish film this was. But if you give it a chance, its great!
The reason this film got such low marks is because when we go to see a horror movie we expect gore and expensive affects. Well this film ditches that. It relies on good old fashion ways of building tension. This film actually has ...

I suppose that essentially “The Blair Witch Project” lies somewhere between a psychological thriller ...

Advantages: No over-the-top special effects Disadvantages: None (In my opinion!)
The Blair Witch Project is very different to main stream Hollywood productions. It is presented as an incomplete student film, as it has not been polished up as a Hollywood movie. It has been filmed and presented as an unedited documentary, with hazy and blurred camera work. The only editing that it does have is the edits between the two different cameras, this is very jumpy and often one scene or shot does not follow on from the previous. These points ...
