Originally titled 'Midway', this World War II drama chronicles the great naval battle of Midway in the South Pacific, where the U.S. Navy won an astounding victory.
I bought this some years ago and was very dissapointed. Considering the potential for buildup,tension and climax in the whole Midway campaign the film is a rather poor effort compared with, for example, Tora Tora Tora!. The acting is pretty ham, and the attempt to comment on the internement issues via a Japanese girlfriend is dire. But a classic war film, a host of starsand a damn sight more historically accurate than anything more modern such as pearl harbour ...
