What is it about?
(Reading from the back of the box)
From Michael Bay, the producer of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre comes the true story of Amityville. In November 1974, a family of six was brutally murdered. Now a year later, ... ...children move into the house that was the site of the horrific event and is now haunted by a murderous presence.

Now as always the fact that the film is based on true events makes it that more intriguing to watch. I did some research on the internet about the actual murders and the story behind them before I watched the remake and if you expect the film to follow the ...

The random remake roundabout spins into action once more and spits out this bloody lump of recycled 70s schlock horror. Unsurprisingly it comes from Michael Bay's horror remake conveyor belt. This version of the 70s schlocker is unlikely ... ...Director Andrew Douglas sticks to the Bay template; so we get photogenic leads in peril with plenty of cheap shocks, nosebleed editing and visual gimmickry. Sadly this makes for a very predictable film that lacks suspense and is a little too clear on the reasons for George's mental instability - the house really is evil. That's fine if all you're looking for is a haunted house story, but a little "Turn of the Screw" ambiguity (is it supernatural ...

I am reviewing the movie The Amityville Horror
I watched this movie last night on television and I have to admit I was a little creeped out. And apparently it is a true story. So I had the hebbi geebies throughout. The Story
A family decide to buy a house in the country, which is a great bargain, only to find out after that the previous family had been murdered in the house. That's the reason for the cheap sale.
They decided to keep the house ... ...People. All goes ok in the house until the husband starts acting weird and the daughter is seeing things. What now follows is 28 days of sheer terror for the family.
The Cast: Ryan Reynolds plays George, the new man of the house after he married a widow with three children. The children are only getting used to him as the father didn't pass away that long ago.
Ryan played the husband who started acting very strange and creepy, and he was sensational. ...

...films have always essentially followed the same template. You have a main character in peril and a nasty creature chasing them, bodies pile up along the way. But it's now getting quite hard to keep that method going with refreshing new ideas. So instead Hollywood is taking it's old movies and blowing the dust off them.
We've already seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre given a re-make, Dawn of the Dead was given a polish and next year sees films such ... ...getting a revamp.
The Amityville Horror is another to get a bit of spit and polish to bring it to a newer generation. I have to confess I've never seen the original so I can't really compare the two. Needless to say this version has had some changes. The film is based on a true story where a young man murdered the rest of his family after believing them to be demons. A young family move into the house where the murders occurred and look forward ...

**Where did the story come from**
Many people know this story if you don't I fill you in on the details. It was a raining, stormy November night in 1974 and Ronny DeFoe awoke at 3:15am and shot each member of his family, no-one tried to get away and no one heard the gun. Advantages: Excellent Horror Film Disadvantages: There aren't any!
...film is a remake of the 1979 classic horror about a haunted house.
It is based on the true story of the Lutz Family who originally moved into the haunted house in Long Island in 1975.
As a rule I would usually say that most 'horror' films are not really scary - however that is definitely not the case with this one.
The original story upon which the film is based started in 1974 when Suffolk Police responded to a telephone call to find six people ... ...siblings) - and claimed that the house had forced him to commit the murders.
A year later, George Lutz and his wife Kathy moved into the house with their three children. 28 days later the family fled the evil house leaving all their possessions behind - never to return.
The film, gripping throughout builds up to a marvellous climax - and is well worth a watch from any lovers of horror and scary films.
The plot follows fairly closely to the origial ...

I watched this movie for the first time last week, and to be honest supernatural stories tend to be unrealistic to me, and therefore i thought i would not enjoy it. However, this movie had some excellent moments and was generally believable. I was gripped by the storyline, even more so as it is based on true events.
