Advantages: Style, acerbic wit, acting, story..... Disadvantages: None at all really
Thank You For Smoking is an acerbic, witty and sometimes shocking look the way American politics works. It will have you laughing uproariously, mainly at the things said by the lead character Nick Naylor, (Aaron Eckhart, Paycheck) in the defence of smoking. See he is a lobbyist for the tobacco concerns and it is his job to defend cigarettes and to make sure people carry on smoking by telling them of all the good points!
Right from the very start ... ...these credits properly.
Thank You is based on the novel by Chris Buckland and manages to be both scary and funny at the same time… funny because of the things that Nick says and does to promote and extol the virtues of cigarettes and scary because his logic for these points actually almost make sense, it may be skewed logic but logical arguing can win the day if done properly. You can win any argument if you can backup your view with logic and examples, ...

Advantages: Remains refreshing after multiple views; a nice alternative to the slurry of poor recent comedy films Disadvantages: Perhaps not to everyone's taste
...tongue firmly in cheek, deliciously abstract and a claim that is testament to the dark humour layered throughout the story.
Thank You For Smoking has a wit which is unquestionably infectious - one of 2006's best comedies, and safe to say a "must-buy" on DVD. ...

Advantages: Smart, witty, hilarious, entertaining! Disadvantages: None! Go watch it!
I watched this film after reading extremely positive reviews in the press and on IMDb, and I am so glad that I did!
The film follows Nick Naylor (An outstanding Aaron Eckhart), a charming, intelligent lobbyist oozing self-confidence, employed by the tobacco companies. We are given an insight into his work, and a glimpse into his family life, particularly his relationship with his son. Aaron Eckhart is simply fantastic in this role and holds your ... ...minor appearance by Rob Lowe (fans of the West Wing won't want to miss this!) is one of the highlights of this movie, showing the interaction between the tobacco companies and Hollywood.
The film is intended neither as an anti-smoking message, nor as support for the tobacco industry. It is merely a very entertaining and satirical look at the job of lobbyists, with one of the wittiest scripts of the year. It is a shame that this film has gone by ...

Nick Naylor, chief spokesman for Big Tobacco, makes his living defending the rights of smokers and cigarette makers in today’s neo-puritanical culture.
BIg Tobacco is a lobby, whose stated purpose is to research the links between smoking cigarettes and health. The group, funded by cigarette companies, never finds any links. Nick's job requires him to "inform" the public of these results.
Each week, Nick meets with Polly Bailey (Maria Bello) and ... ...gun industries, for lunch and mutual support. The three jokingly refer to themselves as "the M.O.D. Squad" (alluding to both the phrase "Merchants Of Death" and the television show The Mod Squad).
Faced with a bill to add a skull and crossbones to all cigarette packaging, Nick proposes an idea to his boss, BR, to get actors in films to start smoking on screen again as in the '20s and '30s, and thus "put the sex back in cigarettes".
BR sends him ...
