Advantages Advantages special effects, Arnie back to form

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of James Cameron, never going to be as good as the first two

“The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves. I wish I could believe that. My name is John Connor, they tried to murder me before I was born, when I was 13 they tried again. Machines from the future. Terminators. All my life my mother told me the storm was coming, Judgment Day, the beginning of the war between man and machines. Three billion lives vanished in an instant, and I would lead what was left of the human race to ultimate victory. It hasn't happened, no bombs fell, computers didn't take control, we stopped Judgment Day. I should feel safe, but I ... more

Advantages Advantages great film with great effects, action packed from the start

Disadvantages Disadvantages not everyone will like it

Winter was coming, the nights were colder, and so going out was definitely out of the question! So what better way to spend an evening than snuggled up nice and warm in front of the fire/one heater in a first floor flat, watching a nice action packed DVD? Well we couldn’t think of a better way and so off we trotted to the local DVD/video rental shop to see what they had in. Now in November they kind of went through a dry month with not many new films coming in but this month there were meant to be at least 5 new films out. There was actually a great choice of movies available when we got there ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages plot could have been much better

So much hype is all over the internet lately about yet another Terminator movie being released for 2006/2007, and me being a big movie maniac I have decided to write a review on the last Terminator movie, T3 Rise Of The Machines, and share some of the rumours which are circling about the fourth instalment to the popular franchise. As this is meant to be a review of this movie.......... and I fear that all that I have to write about the fourth one may not actually quite fit here, I will begin writing about this one, which of course being TERMINATOR 3 - RISE OF THE MACHINES (T3) T3- This of ... more

    Advantages Advantages Ah-Nuld!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many at all.

*NO SPOILERS, GUARANTEED* Go ahead, you can make fun of me all you want but I like Arnie, he's cool. Even though he hasn't made a really, really good film since... well, probably since the last Terminator film 12 years ago I still have a lingering respect for the ageing Austrian warhorse. So when news of a new Terminator film was leaked out - I mean confirmed this time, for real, they were actually going to make it - I was filled with equal parts excitement and trepidation. I mean, what if it's no good? What if it's no better than say, Collateral Damage or The Sixth Day or, Heaven forbid ... more

Advantages Advantages Entertaining, Good Ending, Great Effects

Disadvantages Disadvantages Will never come close to T2

Every summer you can expect a glut of sequels to hit the cinemas. This is because Hollywood struggles to come up with new ideas; the tried and tested ones tend to be the safe bet. Give the audience something familiar and you'll make a decent amount of money, it's not really a big risk. However Terminator 3 was probably seen as this. Arnie certainly wasn't as big as he used to be and his last big hit was probably True Lies back in the mid nineties. So would there be an audience for a third Terminator film and was it worth throwing $150 million at? Well surprising T3 turned out not to be the ... more

Advantages Advantages an amazing film with great visual and sound effects and humour as well

Disadvantages Disadvantages bit of a rushed ending

If you thought you would never see the lovable friendly robot ever again you might be thinking you are seeing ghost. For now Arnold Schwarzenegger returns in the final part of the trilogy, Terminator three:- The rise of the machines. Arnold is back in one of two of his most popular roles to date) and he's back to save the world, or rather, save 2003. After watching a massive string of disappointments this year after a long build up of tension of excitement, It’s now time for the population to be subjected to the final instalment of these films. The action comes thick and fast with state ... more

Advantages Advantages Exciting, visually impressive, good fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dumbed down compared to parts 1 and 2

It's more than ten years since the events of Terminator 2 and John Connor remains greatly disturbed by the threat of Judgement Day. Despite having been able to thwart the assassination plans of the terminator in the previous film, he remains unconvinced that the prophecy of his future ascendance to power would not be fulfilled. As such, he has spent the previous decade travelling alone, without registering any of his details on any computer systems. He has, effectively disappeared without a trace. But then events conspire to change the situation completely. Whilst travelling along a secluded ... more

Advantages Advantages Arnie, the wonderful chase scene, a memorable ending

Disadvantages Disadvantages A poor relative to the first two installments

Well the title of my opinion is not only a line from the second sequel of Schwarzenegger's original rise to fame, but also quite applicable to my own recent absence from the site. Sadly my new job allows me far less time to enjoy the creative outlet Ciao provides, I've certainly missed it even if the reverse is not true. Anyway my spurious babblings aside, the air conditioning of a cinema proved welcome after successfully crisping myself in the weekend sun a few short weeks ago, I settled back to enjoy, in all likelihood, a Schwarzenegger swansong. Terminator 3 probably benefits from the fact ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun, lots of action, attractive main character, no thinking required!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Plot holes

I didn't expect to like Terminator 3. It sounded like a dull way of milking every penny out of the Terminator series as they can, and I was dragged practically kicking and screaming into the cinema, but I actually liked it! In the first installment, machines want to take over the world, but the humans are resisting, with John Connor as their leader. The Terminator (Arnie) is sent back in time to to kill John's mum, Sarah, which obviously fails, otherwise there would be no T3! The second installment confuses me... another Terminator is sent to back in time again to kill John, but the future John ... more

Advantages Advantages Good effects, doesn't take itself too seriously

Disadvantages Disadvantages Appallingly out of synch with the franchise, Arnie looks creaky

Firstly, an apology-I know that this film is now last years news, but I wanted to write a decent review on a subject that I was passionate about and this fitted the bill-also I didn't actually see the movie until it was released on video. Anyways, onwards dear friends...... To start with, the idea was intriguing-how could you possibly have continued the franchise when as we all know, Arnie, his nemesis and the parts of the original terminator from 1984 were all molten slag and any info that was related to the development of the skynet chips was destroyed. Aha I thought, but maybe they had a ... more
