...on the planet) sends a Terminator back through time to the present, a far superior Terminator designed for ‘extreme combat’. A Terminator called the T-X (Kristanna Loken) and unlike its predecessor, non human assassins over the years, this one is in the form of a slender, athletic ,blond female and quite a hottie at that. Her mission is to kill John Connor’s future lieutenants in the upcoming nuclear war as Conner living ‘off the grid’ is near impossible ...

...internet lately about yet another Terminator movie being released for 2006/2007, and me being a big movie maniac I have decided to write a review on the last Terminator movie, T3 Rise Of The Machines, and share some of the rumours which are circling about the fourth instalment to the popular franchise.
As this is meant to be a review of this movie.......... and I fear that all that I have to write about the fourth one may not actually quite fit ...

***A little history of the Terminator***
I wouldn’t say you need to see the first and second terminator movies to see this film because the makers of it have made sure it’s easy to watch as a first terminator movie. I would however recommend you do see at least one of the first ones before watching this because it does have some reference to ...

Advantages: Ah-Nuld! Disadvantages: Not many at all.
...well, probably since the last Terminator film 12 years ago I still have a lingering respect for the ageing Austrian warhorse. So when news of a new Terminator film was leaked out - I mean confirmed this time, for real, they were actually going to make it - I was filled with equal parts excitement and trepidation.
I mean, what if it's no good? What if it's no better than say, Collateral Damage or The Sixth Day or, Heaven forbid, Batman & Robin? What ...

Advantages: Entertaining, Good Ending, Great Effects Disadvantages: Will never come close to T2
...really a big risk. However Terminator 3 was probably seen as this. Arnie certainly wasn't as big as he used to be and his last big hit was probably True Lies back in the mid nineties. So would there be an audience for a third Terminator film and was it worth throwing $150 million at?
Well surprising T3 turned out not to be the anticipated turkey many were expecting. It didn't break new ground but it certainly delivered everything the audience wanted ...

Advantages: an amazing film with great visual and sound effects and humour as well Disadvantages: bit of a rushed ending
...final part of the trilogy, Terminator three:- The rise of the machines. Arnold is back in one of two of his most popular roles to date) and he's back to save the world, or rather, save 2003. After watching a massive string of disappointments this year after a long build up of tension of excitement, It’s now time for the population to be subjected to the final instalment of these films.
The action comes thick and fast with state of the art ...

Advantages: Good effects, doesn't take itself too seriously Disadvantages: Appallingly out of synch with the franchise, Arnie looks creaky
...the parts of the original terminator from 1984 were all molten slag and any info that was related to the development of the skynet chips was destroyed. Aha I thought, but maybe they had a really clever idea.....and they did.......but the implementation was AWFUL.
So here's the idea-Judgment day is inevitable. You can postpone it but you can never prevent it. Hmm....ok Mr new director, I'm intrigued-tell me more........oh I see.....

...years since the events of Terminator 2 and John Connor remains greatly disturbed by the threat of Judgement Day. Despite having been able to thwart the assassination plans of the terminator in the previous film, he remains unconvinced that the prophecy of his future ascendance to power would not be fulfilled. As such, he has spent the previous decade travelling alone, without registering any of his details on any computer systems. He has, effectively ...

Advantages: Arnie, the wonderful chase scene, a memorable ending Disadvantages: A poor relative to the first two installments
...the ten long years since Terminator 2. It's certainly the first Arnie film I've actually enjoyed in the last decade although, whilst it shines with inferno-like brightness compared to his recent releases, it pales when compared to the first two in this high-profile sci-fi series.
Terminator managed to combine a fine sci-fi plot, emotive performances, excellent action sequences and some truly heart-stopping moments. In order to prevent the audience ...

Advantages: Fun, lots of action, attractive main character, no thinking required! Disadvantages: Plot holes
I didn't expect to like Terminator 3. It sounded like a dull way of milking every penny out of the Terminator series as they can, and I was dragged practically kicking and screaming into the cinema, but I actually liked it!
In the first installment, machines want to take over the world, but the humans are resisting, with John Connor as their leader. The Terminator (Arnie) is sent back in time to to kill John's mum, Sarah, which obviously fails, ...

...his lieutenants instead.
Like the previous Terminator movies, Schwarzenegger re-enters the role of the cyborg, a robot with living human tissue surrounding it. The Terminatrix is similar to the T-1000 in Terminator 2, in that it can change into any person it likes, although it too has a robotic body rather than being formed of liquid metal. It also has the power to control machines.
The action doesn't take too long to set-up, and rarely relents. ...

...the man who created the Terminator universe, director James Cameron, the producers turned to action director Jonathan Mostow (Breakdown, U-571), who’s crafted a solid action thriller using the characters and situations from the earlier films. Taken in isolation, this is one of the better action films released this summer, certainly superior to the likes of Hulk and Charlie’s Angels 2. However, in comparison to the other Terminator films, ...

...made immortal by the second Terminator film, the film was a huge box office success and film critics lapped it up. The films success guaranteed many things, action figures of the cast, LOTS of merchandise, a ride at Universal Studios, successful video and DVD releases of the film, and finally it pretty much guaranteed that another Terminator film would be made somewhere down the line.
Know, in my mind, Terminator 2 stands out as one of the only ...

...reprise his role as the Terminator and hoping my fingers crossed that this movie wasn't crap. I came out pleased, with a big smile on my face. It's safe to say that indeed "Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines" indeed was not damned and actually came out being a pleasant surprise. It in no way at all tops the classic first two films ("Terminator 2" especially) but when left on its own, it's would definitely be at least a four and a half star action ...
