Advantages: Excellent plot and action! Disadvantages: I'm not very keen on the added bits on this DVD......
The Terminator was a massive success (Read my review for more info) and so it was inevitable that a second film would be made. But could it possibly beat the brilliance of the origional film? For starters, Terminator 2: Judgement Day has a different feel to it. Rather than being a horror (I think it's a horror anyway....) like the origional, James Cameron decided to make the sequel an action packed masterpiece! The other major difference is that ... ...the Resistance captured a Terminator of the same model as the one that the Machines sent before. After a bit of programming, the Terminator is now a loyal protector of John Connor, the soon to be leader of the Resistance. So who is the baddie? Bring on Robert Patrick. He plays the part of the T1000, a far better model than the previous machine. It has the ability to change shape as it is made out of liquid metal. It can change into anything it touches ...

Advantages: action packed film for diehard Schwarzenegger / sci-fi fans Disadvantages: some might not enjoy the excessive violence
Judgment Day: Terminator 2 was released in the UK in August 1991, seven years after the first film. I’ve seen the film several times now and thought I should review it.

James Cameron also produced and directed ... ...unstoppable cyborg known as the Terminator T1000, which can change its shape into anything it touches, is sent back from the future to eliminate John Connor, a future resistance leader who fights against the machines taking over the world. Skynet is the computer that sends the T1000 to wipe out John Connor who is winning the battle against the human like machines in the future. ...of the low budget The Terminator in 1984, it was only a matter of time before a follow-up was made. Unfortunately, legal wranglings over the rights meant that the film wasn't possible until 1991, and also meant that there was an extremely short timescale for a production of this size as the release date had been set for the July 4th weekend.
The delay in making the follow-up had allowed Cameron to make Aliens and, more importantly, The Abyss, which ... ...Cameron to create a new Terminator which could change shape and imitate living creatures. Taking things further on from The Abyss the effects would have to be able to imitate human movement. To give the effects artists at ILM time to create the new technology all scenes that were to include CGI shots had to be filmed at the start of the shooting schedule.
The story of the original Terminator was one of the most original sci-fi stories of recent ...

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is obviously the follow up to The Terminator. So, really, I should be writing an opinion on Terminator first, but I liked Terminator II better, so that’s why I’m writing this! Did you know that Terminator II was actually made back in 1991. ...the box office smash hit, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Linda Hamilton. I must say this was my favourite film out of the trilogy, the storyline, characters; special effects for that era really made this a rock solid action film. James Cameron's original Terminator movie is one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies ever made in my humble opinion. Terminator 2, which followed a number of years later, is a virtualy retread of the original move but with an enormous budget and more advanced special effects used on it and is also a damn fine movie. Effectively the movie is one long chase as both mother and rebel run from the relentless pursuit of a seemingly unstoppable killing machine. Terminator ...

Terminator 2 - Judgement Day. Even the title is cool! A film on special effects steroids with action a-go-go.
Even so, the story and characterisation in this film is surprisingly good. Most sequels tend to be of a far poorer quality in these terms and although T2 can never match the raw, brutal power of The Terminator; with its added depth of character and equally fast and persuasive storyline, T2 is up there with the greats.

Overall Terminator 2 is a great sci-fi, time travelling, cybernetic, apocalyptic film, and truly is one of the best of its type made. All of the credit has to go to James Cameron who wrote and directed Judgement Day.
