Is George of the Jungle the funniest film around? Probably not, but it is funny and when we rented it for a week it got funnier every time we watched it. Tarzan is a kids film so I didn't think I would like it that much but it is superb. The animation is typically Disney - excellent. It is smooth and fluent. The story is really entertaining and funny. Disney really do a great job of portraying the characters and give them such life and personality that you swear they are real. The musical score added by Phil Collins is wonderful and not only are they good songs but they complement the film very well ...

...the standard cut to adulthood, Tarzan soon learns to have fun as a boy thinking he's an ape, some of which proves highly comical yet at the same time makes him the black sheep, especially to Kerchak.
Kerchak is the ape leader who everyone looks up to, and Tarzan is no exception. His aim is to be the best ape ever, and please Kerchak. Obviously being a teenager things aren't quite so easy.
Moving on to adulthood Tarzan becomes swift, strong and ... ...fortune, but the love struck Tarzan swings to the rescue resulting in Claytons demise.
The finale and goodbyes follow, but Jane just can't leave. She loves Tarzan too and so remains quickly followed by her dad who's a bit of swinger anyway.

...my daughter to see Disney's Tarzan I was not really sure what to expect. The film surprised me! I was captivated from the beginning. And it also held a 3 year old's attention, although I would really recommend this film for children of school age. The animation is first class, as you would expect from Disney, and, if anything is step forward in terms of depth. The characters are brought to life, and developed well throughout the length of the film, ... ...of becoming irritating (as Jar Jar Binks suceeded in Episode One of Stars Wars). Advantages: Music, graphics, colour ,and story Disadvantages: everyone knows the ending
I thought this was a really good film, and not just for children either.
It told the story well and had good graphics, colour and music which allowed it to apeal to a wide range of people. Even us teenagers!! The film was funny and entertaining but also very sad at the end so might say that it even had a moral, although I wouldn't like to say exactly what it is.
The sound track was very good, almost worth buying as a CD in its own right.

...for Disney animated films but Tarzan was great! Even the Phil Collins music was tolerable.
Even though you know the story before you watch the film it's still great entertainment.
I thought Jane's over the top English accent was hilarious, or perhaps I am just too common?
The only disappointment was the music, I like the usual Disney songs, that you can't help but remember but the music in Tarzan is not the 'sing along' type.

...it to finish. We follow tarzan as he grows up doing all the things that the gorillas do. But when Jane, the prof and their hired help arrive things suddenly change for poor Tarzan. This is a dramatic story and it involves several fights between man and animal. Advantages: Very Entertaining, keeps husband and children quiet. Disadvantages: Can be a bit scary for the younger ones at first but they get over it quickly.
I sometimes wonder what life would have been like without Disney. Horrifying thought.
My children as I am sure most children do, watch the same films I used to. Every time a new Disney cartoon is released, I wonder if it will live up to its predecessors as good things generally do come to quick ends.

Excellent film. Action packed, full of both adult and child laughter opportunities. Wonderful animation and story and again it had life lessons for children. A new classic from Disney.
The characters were great and Lucy, my niece, was laughing like a drain at many of the happenings!
I'm glad I didn't see it at the cinema though because I cried my eyes out at the end and embarrassed Lucy to the point where she pretended to cry to make me feel better! ...

...take a long time showing Tarzan growing up, then all the action happened at once and it was the end of the film.
The storyline was held for both adults & kids alike, and the "growing up" for Tarzan was stunning - cute kid to large-jawed man in one film! In conclusion highly enjoyable, relaxing, loved the bit with the elephants & the pirahna!! ...

I confess, I am a Disney fan, especially the new stuff, and I have to say, this has got to be the best yet. Not only is the sound track brilliantly moulded round the film but the animation is truly out of this world. The story follows an orphaned baby boy, left to grow up ona tropical isle with Gorillas as his family. His name, Tarzan. The film follows his growing up, trying to fit in with the other Gorillas until a young English girl called Jane, ... ...find themselves on the island looking to study the Gorillas. I will not delve into the story anymore, but it is fantastically done and the visuals will blow you away.... even the colour of the jungle is larger than life.
Go and buy it and enjoy, its watchable again and again.. ...

I was a little apprehensive about the purchase of this DVD but my girlfriend wanted it, so it joined my collection. Its usual Disney fare, lets take an historical event or character and "soften it". The story reads much like any other Disney animated movie, Boy meets Girl, Girl dislikes Boy at first, Girl is won over by Boy, throw a Baddie into the mix with a liberal dash of musical songs by a well known artist (Phill Collins for this film) and you ... ...animation as you would expect is superb, some of the scenes really jump out at you, the feeling of 3D is very well done. As always the voice overs are done by a multitude of Hollywood stars. A great one for the kids (of all age out there). Some good extras on the DVD (I didn't get the Special Edition), a trivia quiz and story mode to keep your youngest amused for hours. All in all a good movie, with some nice extras, now, if only you could remove ...
