...make you very wary of strangers from now on! The tension is fantastic right the way through, with some quite unsettling scenes, and lots of examples of Hitchcock's revolutionary visual style. I would definitely recommend it!

Advantages: Thrilling from the beginning Disadvantages: very creepy
Introduction
This is a psychological drama directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It is not one of his best-known films, but I think it deserves to be better-known - the atmosphere builds up slowly from the beginning and is chilling from start to finish, complemented by excellent camera-work. The film dates from 1951.
The director
Alfred Hitchcock was born in Leytonstowe, England and died in 1980. His film-making career began in 1919, and by 1926 had made ... ...Lodger. He moved to Hollywood in 1940, and afterwards directed a string of films for which he is most remembered, including To Catch a Thief, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, Psycho and The Birds. His final film was family plot in 1976.
