I am not a fan of bonus material so I have not watched these so I am unable to make any comment on whether they deserve a watch or not. The running time of this film is 1 hour and 53 minutes which I found to be a great length and thought that the story moved at a great pace from the very start to the end and I was not loosing interest at any point. The certificate on the film ... ...think that there is one scene in particular which I would not advise children watching as it is indeed very moving and it did make me cry. For those of you who have seen this film then you will know which one I am referring to. I managed to get this DVD for just £2 in Tesco and I am so pleased with this price and the fact that I watched the whole thing. I definitely recommend this film as it has a wonderful story, amazing actors and the whole thing ...

...one of those films is Steel Magnolias.
Firstly, let me talk to you about the name of the film. Some films names are very unimportant and tell you very little about the film. For instance - nine to five. That name tells you very little about what the film is actually about. Steel Magnolias has an actual meaning to its name. “Steel” represents how strong the women are, and “Magnolias” are flowers that you can find in the South ... ...translated, Steel Magnolias is “Strong Women Of The South.”!
Not only does it have an amazing story, but also it actually has a wonderful cast. With six lead characters, all being women, it’s difficult to think of six, let alone get six actresses that fit the part perfectly. All six being totally different, but that is what creates the magic on the screen. The fact that all these women are different, yet get along so well, and ...

The laughs come mainly from the one line insults that two of the older members of the group. Advantages: Very watchable and fine casting Disadvantages: You need to have tissues at the ready!
This film is about 6 strong women who endure life's ups and downs with friendship, love and wit, and emerge through the other side stronger - hence the name 'Steel Magnolias'.
The film, directed by Herbert Ross, was brought to film in 1989, and set in the deep south of Louisiana.

Advantages: Humourous, easy-going. Disadvantages: Too short!
This fantastic bittersweet comedy 'Steel Magnolias', set in Louisiana brings together a fantastic cast of female actors playing lead roles; illuminating life in the deep south of America amongst a group of six friends who share their good times and bad times with eachother - and us.
Even though she lacks confidence and has a 'shady' past, Annelle, a beauty student (glamour techinician!) starts work at Truvy's Beauty Spot beauty parlour and from ... ...soon to be married to a rich Louisiana lawyer), and their quirky friends Clairee and Ouiser who are both well-off real south women - and proud of it!
Straight away in the movie we are introduced to the main storylines - M'lynn, Shelby's wedding, and her trials with diabetes, and of course the lesser storylines of Truvy, Clairee, Ouiser and the newcomer; Annelle.
It starts out as a simple day-of-the-wedding fiasco with many funny remarks - and a ...

...gave me a film called steel magnolias and I thought it was very funny because magnolias are not steel they are flowers. Magnolias are very pretty flowers they are white with a little bit of yellow or pink and they have very pretty petals but they are not my favourite flowers. They are not made of steel. This film does not have any steel magnolias in it and when I asked diane about that she said it was something called a metal 4 but I did not know ... ...she is my firend.
Steel magnolias is a very sad film because julia roberts has cancer but I will not tell you if she dies. Cancer is very sad. My daughter janine nearly died of cancer but she didn't she died of a car crash. But I am not in this film so I will not tell you about me I will tell you about the film. Every time there is cancer in the film I am a bit sad but I did not cry because I remembered that there are no magnolias that are made ...

Advantages: This film will make you laugh Disadvantages: You''ll also have to get your tissues out, as it will also make you cry!
This film is the only film to have made me laugh and made me cry. It's got everything in it that you need from a film, including a fantastic cast (Shirley MacClaine is her usual feisty, brilliant self in it, but there's also Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton and Sally Fields). This film focuses mainly on the relationship between a mother and daughter (Sally Field and Julia Roberts), but it is centred around a hairdresser's (owned by Dolly Parton) in a ... ...their lives. Julia Roberts gets married. Once settled into married life, she gets pregnant - even although she has been advised by her doctors not to as she is a diabetic. She has a son, and later gets given a kidney by her mother, which her body rejects, and she dies.
This film goes on to show another cast member having a baby and naming her after Julia Roberts character, emphasising that life goes on. This film has a wedding, a funeral, a birth, ...
