Advantages: Really building on the first season Disadvantages: Will still need to own season 1 to understand everything
Season 2 of Atlantis really did move the show into great sci-fi. The addition of Ronan to the cast was a much needed move. Ford in the first season was an ok character but I never really felt that he was interesting enough to be more than a recurring guest star.
I think the writing on the show got better over the second season with some great episodes and drama/comedy. The acting is brilliant, with all the characters managing to become deeper along ... ...Atlantis got its own in-house special effects for season 2 and you can really notice the difference. They really take the CGI up a notch in season 2 with some amazing space battles. The introduction of the Earth ship Daedalus really gives them a chance to show more aswell instead of last seasons puddle jumper shots.

stargate series 2 complete set vol1 :The Siege - lt. fords infection of the enzyme from the wraith who tried to suck the life out of him before they both took a blast from a granade during the the first assult from the wraith, and during all of mckays try to do his useal thing coming up with a brilliant idea to save atlantis
vol2:The Intruder - now this i enjoyed alot the wraith sent a virus to the ship which was a.i a nano virus the only problem ... ...way to turn it off
vol3:Runner - the team is still continuing there search for Lt. ford still in high hopes in finding him and bringing back home (atlantis) while on there travels they come across a fierce warrior ronon dex (a runner)
who happens to know the where abouts of Lt. Ford and manages to catcher him in time to save him from what he might become.
vol4:duet - a wraith dart suddley arrives on an off world misson ends up transporting mckay ...
