The story had to fit and you had to be able to believe it the designs of the ships had to have moved on and to look as though they were metemorphesising into x wing fighters in the original film yet look as though there was a bit of progression needed. I like how they gradually tell the story over the three new ones about how they fall in love and how darth vadar is created.
