...the catalan television played again Star Trek the original series. I became crazy about that serie from the first chapter. I think that ST:The original series (TOS) is maybe the best sci-fi serie ever done. For me it has the same problem than Doctor Who. Both series had the best plots ever done, but with bad special effects. Sometimes bad special effects means that you find more difficult to get into the story. Some years ago I discovered ST:The ... ...movie we are talking about. Star Trek 9 :Insurrection! The plot --------- Federation is breaking one of their own rules and only the great crew of the enterprise can do something against it. I don’t want to tell many things of the plot, cos I think that opinions have to be useful if you know everything about the movie and you want more info or if you are planning to watch it. If I tell you the complete plot I’ll be breaking the magic ...

...planet with Picard to ‘rescue’ Star Fleet officers and some Son’a people, however, it was Data who kept them on the planet informing the ‘Ba’ku’, (the villagers), that they were the enemy, its also found out that looks are deceiving, and the Ba’ku are fully knowledgeable with warp-drive and the latest technologies, its just they choose not to use them. Picard apologises, and everyone leaves.
Picard goes back to the surface after a while with Data ... ...will only appeal to die-hard Star Trek fans, even I struggled to enjoy it. Saying this it has a brilliant music score, one of Jerry Goldsmiths best I think, and it has a good twist to the movie, (if you can bare with it that long). We also see some good character moment’s, Riker and Troi especially as they ‘hot’ up their relationship somewhat. The location of the village is really paradise, (even though it has been done up a bit I expect), but its ...

Advantages: Pure Star Trek Disadvantages: Watching this after First Contact
...the cast and crew of Star Trek, Insurrection (The ninth film in the series) is a small disappointment at first glance. This tale about the peaceful race known as the Ba'ku and their planet of eternal youth, which is under threat, initially pails in comparison somewhat next to the excellent First Contact. However, part of the beauty of Star Trek has always been in the diversity of its stories and characters and although, in my opinion, this is one ... ...and offers the viewer the Star Trek equivalent of the "feel good factor" by its conclusion. The film's scope is best described as a moral argument rather than a full-blown "Insurrection" - but I guess the latter works better as a film title. The basic plot involves the afore mentioned peaceful race: the Ba’ku, who are seemingly in their technological infancy, sort of pre-industrial humanoids, who live on a remote planet deep in a region of inhospitable ...

Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the rest of the Next Generation crew reunite in an adventure that sees them rebelling against Starfleet and the Federation to protect a race of 600 people who live in a paradise and whose existence is insured by their planet's fountain of youth type powers.

Advantages: A brillant film, good acting.... Disadvantages: none.....
The original Star Trek and TNG, always focused on the promotion of science, that is the logic, the scientific method, the freedom to pursuit science, the struggle against superstition. In the next generation, this theme is also continued in countless episodes. (think of Picard fighting the woman who claims to be the devil)
In Insurrection however, we have a "garden of Eden" race who refuses technology as an "evil" addition to their lives. A race ... ...depth for the sake of Star Trek. Let us protect the themes that made us watch Star Trek in the first place: The freedom of choice, the pursuit of science, the "boldness" to go where no one has gone before, regardless if this means the expulsion from our safe little world.
Sidenote:
There's lots of scenes on the planet which is so beautiful. It was filmed in Nevada I believe. There are lots of action scenes out in space for those who like action. ...

Advantages: A good mix of adventure, romance and action Disadvantages: Moves slowly if you are obsessed with First Contact
Star Trek: Insurrection had a hard time, following on from the critically acclaimed First Contact, however, if you don't spend all your time comparing it to it's predecessor, it is a damned fine film.
It moves along at a more sedate pace than First Contact, features some moments of strong character development and seems to be a more leisurely film that the pure action-fest of First Contact.

The latest installment of the Star Trek movie series tries really to bridge the gap between trekker and your average person. It does so very well by incorporating a very good plot and storyline. Romance is also a key ingredient in this film for Cptn Pic, which makes it all the more exciting. The special effects have been really ...

...the 9th film in the Star Trek movie franchise and there's a new 11th instalment coming out later this year. It's as though the Star Trek crew have sleepwalked through the film whilst wrapped in clingfilm, that's how stiff they are.
And I've seen scarier puppets on Sesame Street than the baddies on offer here.
You can't fault the sound or picture quality, but this matters not a jot with a bad plot, boring actors and a sebnse of fun only Ken Barlow would enjoy.
