However, the Enterprise and her crew are not invited to the party as it’s believed that due to Picard’s previous involvement with the Borg, it may compromise the Federations position in disabling ...

Advantages: Excellent acting, good story, great effects Disadvantages: None from me or hubby
...Contact is part of the Star Trek series and we see Patrick Stewart playing the role of Captain Jean Luc Picard. At the start of the film he is having a dream about when he was taken by the Borg and turned into one of them. He soon awakes from this dream and finds Star Fleet are asking him to take his ship to an area where they would like them to watch that things are still quiet. When they arrive in this area they find a problem. They arrive to find ... ...much more so than the Star Wars films and the makers of the film seemed to have looked to the future and used props and items which they believe could become a reality this is why me and hubby enjoy Star Trek so much. Patrick Stewart does a wonderful job in the role of Captain Picard and he really does make his character so believable. I do like the fact that in this film he is holding a grudge against the Borg and he is after revenge as this shows ...

Advantages: Picard, Data, the Borg, what else could you possibly need Disadvantages: the Direction is a little naivety
...the whole crew from the Star Trek: The Next Generation series return. This time they are in the new and vastly improved Enterprise-E1 which just looks incredibly stylish.
As the film begins we find that a Borg cube2 has entered federation3 space. A fleet is dispatched to protect earth; the Enterprise is not included though. However, when the battle begins it goes badly and the enterprise is sent it.
Destroying the cube is only the beginning, as ... ...1. The Star Trek Universe:
- 'Jerry Goldsmith: A Tribute'
- 'The Legacy of Zefram Cochrane'
- 'First Contact: The Possibilities'
2. The Borg Collective:
- 'Unimatrix One'
- 'The Queen'
- 'Design Matrix'
The first two featurettes are great, they're really informative and explain several things that even I hadn't understood (and I watch quite a lot of Star Trek). If your not particularly familiar with Star Trek or the universe in which its ...

...my personal favourite to the Star Trek collection of films, and it has a reason for being so, too. The film starts off with the Captain waking from a dream, worried about his past expiriences with the Borg. Stumbling onto the bridge, he recieves word from Starfleet about a Borg threat coming to Earth. He is faced with a decision that he must make...
The film itself is fantastic, with one of the best plots in Star Trek films I have seen. In this ... ...the cast and crew of Star Trek. One of these is the interview with the Borg Queen, which is incredibly suprising, as she looks nothing like she does on-screen. Also on disc 2, are the outtakes of the film itself.
In my view, First Contact is a great film. ...

Advantages: Good balance of action, humour and SF. Very good picture and sound quality. Entertaining and informative commentaries and extras. Disadvantages: Quite heavy in continuity to previous Borg episodes of the TV series.
...change Earth's (or at least Star Trek's) history, Captain Picard must follow them to make sure that they do not prevent the founding of the Federation. This brings the Enterprise to the early 22nd century, recovering after a nuclear war, and into a meeting with Zephram Cochrane, the guy who is due to invent warp drive and make first contact (see what they're doing with the title there?) with the Vulcans.
This is part Star Trek as hero-worship, and ... ...Stewart) joins forces with guest star Alfre Woodard to stave off the Borg invasion of his ship.
This is a movie of two very distinct tones. The segments dealing with Cochrane's warp flight are quite lightweight and humourous, and include some surprising (and accurate) digs at the mythology surrounding Gene Roddenberry's creation of Star Trek itself. The other sections, dealing with Picard's fight against the Borg, and the temptation of the android ...

Advantages: The 'Next Generation' crew get a film to themselves Disadvantages: None
STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT is the 8th in the 'Star Trek' movie series, and the 2nd to feature the 'Next Generation' crew, led by Captain Picard. The storyline has the crew having to travel back in time from the 24th to the 21st century in order to stop the Borg from assimilating the Earth and changing the future from the course it should be on.
This is a much more exciting film than the previous instalment, 'Generations'. Each member of the crew has ... ...like 'The Picard/Kirk Show'. The storyline is more exciting - I've always had a soft spot for the Borg ever since their first appearance in the TV episode 'The Best Of Both Worlds', and the Borg and their Queen (played by Alice Krige) provide a much more formidable foe than Malcilm McDowell's Soren in the previous film. It also has to be said that much as I love the crew of the original Enterprise, Kirk's appearance in the previous film undermined ...

Advantages: The BEST Star Trek film ever made Disadvantages: Haven't found any
I remember the first time I ever saw this film and right from the opening sequences I was on the edge of my seat, Drawn right into the film with the floor vibrating because of the surround sound as the Enterprise NCC1701-E flying on screen I knew this would be a great film and all the way through I was not disappionted.
With the best bad guys ever created for a trek series it was a film full of scares, thrills, excitement, drama and of course Worf's ...

This saga in the next generation series is one of hero worship against surviving obstacles. The world 'as we know it' was not yet
formed for the next generation crew and that way of life is of cross-
purposes. The creator of warp drive is not a saint or walks on water;
but he has warts an all feelings and attitudes which are hard to take
by our intrepid crew. He does not fit the script; nor does the aliens
that are coming to see them. It is ...
