Kirk meets up with Gorkon's ship and invites him and his crew aboard the Enterprise for dinner; this ends up quite a tense affair for Kirk and his crew, but pretty amusing for us (the viewer). This is also the first time we meet-up with General Chang, (Christopher Plummer), in the movie, (you will ...

Advantages: Very good storyline and effects. Disadvantages: A few unbelievable characters
Star Trek 6 - The Undiscovered Country was the last movie to feature the full cast of the original series, and although a few of the members appeared in Generations, this really was a last goodbye to the gallant crew of the enterprise.
Throughout the first five movies we have watched the crew grow older and wiser and yet there is still a little sparkle left in Kirk's eyes as he command his ship, and there is still mischief in McCoy's eyes as he ... ...most satisfying movies of the Star Trek series involving the original crew.
This is perhaps my favorite of all the original series movies as it is very convincing. The characters face several difficult tasks, and we see Spock's logic working at its best. As with many of the previous movies there is a comedy element, mostly involving Kirk (e.g. the fight with a huge alien ends when Kirk kicks the alien's knee - little did he know that ...

Advantages: Great Entertainment Disadvantages: Too many shakspearian references
My reviews of the Star Trek movies continue with this brilliant instalment which see's a further change in direction which you can feel to an even greater extent than was apparent in the transition from Star Trek IV to Star Trek V. Clearly having suffered the indignation of a comparatively unsuccessful movie that was Star Trek V, Paramount have decided to "come home" by re-introducing Nicholas Meyer as the director of this Cold War of the future ... ...Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and a fine job he did too. He's well and truly back and every scene has his name written all over it.
The plot of this film relates to the breaking down of barriers between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. But its more than that, it's a struggle for survival for the Klingons, a struggle to forgive for Captain James T. Kirk who's son's life was taken by a Klingon in Star Trek III: The Search ...

Advantages: Excellent murder mystery in space Disadvantages: None
A great Murder who donnit! Kim Catterall and Nimoy almost steal the show as Vulcans obviously smitten with each other but following different ideologies. The Klingons need help in this VIth film and it's up to Kirk and crew to escort the Klingon leader to a peace summit. Excellent perforance by Christopher Plummer as the Evil General Chang sees him battling with kirk both mentally and finally in space combat. The story basically revolves around whether ... ...who were the Starfleet assasins, the rescue of Kirk and McCoy from Prison and the unearthing of a closet Rommunlan/Klingon/Terran/Vulcan threat to continue all out conflict at the highest levels - easy isn't it?
The story is a vast improvement on the last film and is a great swansong for all the regular actors as each are given relatively decent lines and appearances. My favorite scene has to be the firing on the declocked lingon vessel by the battle ...

...to feature the entire original Star Trek cast, and a well crafted finale. After an explosion on a Klingon moon, Kirk et al are sent to meet the delegation looking for peace with the Federation. Naturally things go wrong, and Kirk and McCoy are charged with murder and put on trial.
If you can get your head around Klingons spouting Shakespeare at every possible opportunity, this is a highly enjoyable film, and well worth seeing. The special effects ...

Review of Star Trek 6 : The Undiscovered Country (DVD)
Advantages: It is much better than the fifth film Disadvantages: It is the last in the series to feature the complete original Enterprise crew
The sixth film in the Star Trek saga featured the usual crew of the Enterprise, with guest appearances by a variety of stars and celebrities including Christopher Plummer, Kim Cattrall (long before her 'Sex and the City' days), Christian Slater (in a brief cameo) and Iman.
Relatively recent in relation to the making of the film, the collapse of the Soviet Union had an impact on the storyline of the film. Because of the imminent annihilation of their ... ...evidenced in the previous film, STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER. It appears that Paramount threw more money at this film, fittingly as it is a send-off to the original crew (although Kirk, Scotty and Chekov make an appearance in the next film, which introduces the NEXT GENERATION crew to the big screen).
The acting is also superb, and this is surprising again considering the wooden-ness of the acting in the previous film. The only sour note is Kim ...
