I thought speed was a good film, with some good humour and action. Speed 2 promised to be just as good, but since its release the word 'speed' has made me feel sick. I can't watch speed these days without thinking about the horror that is the sequel. I recommend this film only to those people with A LOT of time on their hands - so much, in fact, that they wake up at 4 every morning and do nothing until 11 that same night. Even they can do better ...

Advantages: some okay action sequences Disadvantages: everything else
...you wanting more. It's sequel, Speed 2 Cruise Control, is terrible. The action sequences are limp, the adrenaline pumping moments of tension non-existent and the script appalling. Replacing Keanu Reeves from the first film is action man Jason Patric, who looks good on screen but is merely a cardboard cut out action man, in the vein of Jean Claude Van Damme, but much much worse. Reeves obviously had the sense to jump ship (excuse the pun!), but Sandra ... ...pressure, the cruise ship in Speed 2 is like a lead weight, you just can't create tension on a boat!! During the part of the film where the crew are desperately trying to stop the ship from hitting an oil tanker, it takes an age for the boat to reach the tanker, thus eliminating any sense of excitement. I was actually hoping they would crash, just to rid us of the extremely irritating Bullock, who's stupidity, rather then being cute like in the first ...

Advantages: Great acting, action and special effects Disadvantages: Not as good as the first
Granted this movie is not as good as its incredible prequel but it can still hold its own as an entertaining action flick. Jason Patric fits into the role of hero very well and is superb in the action sequences where he performed a lot of his own stunts. Sandra Bullock is also excellent as Annie, the role she also played in the first movie. It has an average plot but when it nears the end there is enough action and mind blowing special effects to ...

Advantages: so bad its funny Disadvantages: bad action, acting, directing, script, extras
Speed was a pretty decetn action film with a good premise that was well executed. naturally the formula cleaned up at the box office and a sequel was put into motion. Keanu Reeves passed on the idea and quite wisely yet Sandra Bullock reuruned and has only just started to recover from the debacle. Speed 2 isn't just an average film, it's a terrible one with a badly concieved idea. The first film takes place on a bus with traffic all around, Los Angeles ... ...box office and it widely loathed but quite a lot of people. Thankfully I won my copy which I've duly got rid of. Speed 2 will waste 2 hours of your life and if you fork out for the dvd you'll feel shafted in a very nasty way. ...

Advantages: You can stop the video and do something far more interesting Disadvantages: How long have you got?
...word review of the film Speed 2? I'm not sure that the script even ran to that length! This film is dire. It's a boring done to death action film that has neither the humour, plot or thrill of Speed (1). Sandra Bullock is as charming as ever and her performance really isn't that that bad (not exactly one she'll enjoy disclosing on a C.V. I'd imagine though). The film? Well, insane yet mensa level I.Q. chap (aren't they all in these films? After all, ...

Advantages: steady romp Disadvantages: not as good as the first
Much as I like Sandra Bullock I did not find this film as good as the original (for as full discussion of the merits of sequels watch the film Scream 2).
I thought Willem Dafoe put in a passable performance as the villain (though I find it hard to imagine him as anything else). However I am not so sure that I thought that the basic premise was all that good. Evil computer geniuses and disgruntled employees do seem to abound in Hollywood. Maybe there ... ...cheesed off fired computer people.
Jason Patric was okay as the hero but I just flet that the whole thing was a bit lacklustre. That's not to say that there wasn't any action in it. I think it was just that it was going to have a hard time following the original.
Perhaps that is due to the fact that Dennis Hopper made such a good villain in the first film. I think also that the second was a bit too schmaltzy for want of abetter word. At the end ...

Scott's Review:
This movie was all right. It was loaded with plenty of action and special effects, which was very entertaining. And let me tell you that Sandra looked stupendous in her "oufit". The movie did keep me entertained ...

...it. Well worth seeing.
SPEED 2!!! Its not as good as you may think. For a sequel to the first film, the director really has messed up. First thing is a film called Speed cannot really be located on a boat. The film is meant to be a fast action packed film but we don’t have that here. What we have is a film that has a very poor storyline poor acting and no surprises. Keanu Reeves is not even in it and he was the main character no body can take his ... ...it. And has ruined the speed films for many people. Just like the Matrix Revolutions that was not as good as the first two films. SPEED 2 CRUISE CONTROL is a Hugh mess and it is no way gripping enough to get people into it. The fight scenes are very poor and some of the worse I have seen, however the film does contain a few nice effects and is no where near as bad as some films with a similar storyline. Don't get me wrong this film could well be ...

...3 times, and the first Speed is my favourite film of all time. Don;t get me wrong, this is a good film, just not quite up to the standard of Speed. It is set on a cruise liner, and there is a madman on board who plants bombs in golf balls and detonates them. SO the story never gets as intense as Speed, as there is not the thrill of a bus speeding around downtown Los Angeles and avoiding all manner or obstacles whilst the irate passangers have to ...

Speed 2 has about as much action as a celibate priest on a Sunday morning. (Can I say that?) The acting is beyond awful, the script is beyond painful and the special effects are none existant.
The DVD for Speed 2 contains:
Original Theatrical Trailer
Interactive Menus
Scene Access
which is another good reason to not to buy this trash. If you have ...

Advantages: A sequil to a good film Disadvantages: A bad sequil
This film had a hard act to follow and it did not make a good job of it at all. The fact that the cast had changed did not help and using a boat seemed somewhat unrealistic. The film failed to keep me on the edge of my seat aas with the first one and when it had finished I felt quite let down.
The acting was of an average standard but then I suppose it is hard to produce an oscar winning performace with such an empty story line. Definately not one ...
