This is the follow up by Guy Ritchie, to Lock, Stock and 2 smoking barrels. The film is made in much the same vein, with the theme being East End Gangsters and the cock ups made by the amateur criminals. The plot is complex but not as cleve as Lock Stock and Vinny Jones plays the same type of gangster. This time the fun centres around illegal fighting, and a stolen diamond, and the way the two events become interlinked. So this is Guy's big shot at making a film with a hollywood budget and a hollywood actor so does it succeed in being the follow up to lock Stock....Yes it does, although some people may be a little tired of watching british ganster films believe me this is the best of the lot. It has fantastic camera movement, a super cast and a great soundtrack. But more than all of this it is the brilliant script that makes this film so good. So whats it all about then? This is a classic film, that I would recomend to everyone. The general billing is that is a sequal to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, yet it is an exelent film in it's own right. I haven't seen the earlier film and I couldn't see how that experience could have made it any more enjoyable. The movie is written excelently, and shot in an even better way. The use of two, almost completely issolated from each other, sets of 'good guy' characters are linked by the other characters, change it from a potentially disjointed story in to an ingenious piece of cinema. Snatch is a gangster film that is very similar to the box office hit "Lock Stock and two smoking barrels" as it is also directed by Guy Ritchie. It stars Brad Pitt who plays and Irish Gypsy Street Boxer who loves his mum. The fild is about a large diamond that keeps on being stolen and you follow the funny and violent path it takes. The film is full of very violent scenes althrough the film and swaing is strong and constant but there are no sex scenes or nudity. This film was a good film. If u have seen Lock stock you will watch the begining and think oh my god the same as lock stock but there are slight differences. It is a funny film but i think london gangster films have been overused in the past few years. Brad Pitt plays a very good irish gypsy and good old vinnie is just natural. There is nothing special about the film , but it was definately a Guy Ritchie film, the way all the characters link in and they all seem so close in their own plots but dont know it !! I really enjoyed this film as it was fast paced, exciting and original. It is well directed and is in the same mould as "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels." The cast is also good with Brad Pitt doing well as a gypsy boxer, and the storyline is entertaining. The film is about stealing stones and breaking bones, as the poster says. A diamond has been stolen, and there are a number of characters who are trying to get it. This makes the storyline sound dull, but in fact the adventures of all the different people trying to get the diamond are quite memorable. I definitely recommend this film, and ... more

SNATCH had me howling with laughter, it is a very entertaining film and one which i could watch time and time again. Richie has definitely come up with another storming hit with this one. I thought it was very similar to Lock Stock and two smoking barrels but i also thought it was actually better as well. Brad Pitt was excellent as Mickey the irish gypsy or Pikey as they're constantly referred to in the film, Vinnie Jones was his usual inimitable self as Bullet tooth Tony and Jason Statham was great as Turkish, whose wheeling and dealing gets him into some scrapes. I really enjoyed Lock, Stock... I bought the DVD, soundtrack and while I thought the spinoff show could have been better, I loved that too. Imagine my shock when Guy Ritchie and Ska came up with the goods again. While some might argue that the film was over-cast with too many regulars and talent to keep it from being over-hyped, the charachters all work well together with some amazing individual performances. What a cool movie. Says a lot about british film making really - much more 'real' than other American films of this genre. Ritchie makes a brilliant film. Looking forward to seeing the next from him. Snatch may be seen by some as a follow up to Lock Stock (That's the movie not the TV series) but it is much more than that. It has all the good points from that movie but is much slicker and the story line has a few extra twists and turns along the way. The cast is of very high quality with any major let downs. The story is strong but the movie is seriously tongue in cheek and must be viewed as such to gain maximum enjoyment. There really is very little more to say except that if you have been disapointed by British gangster stuff in the past this should change that and if you have enjoyed ... more
