Production Year: 2005 - Action/Adventure - Director: Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino - Original Language: English - Classification: 18 years and over - Starring:Jessica Alba, Benicio Del Toro, Brittany Murphy, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood
Advantages: I loved the violence and twists! Disadvantages: Disappointed with some of the acting!
...acting, I'm afraid, put the Sin in Sin City. The odd line from a few characters sounded so corny and cheesy, definitely not their style! If you see it, you'll understand!
Parts of this film were a little confusing, but the violence more than made up for it. It's a pity whenever there's a blood gushing scene, it turns into a sillohette and you can't see anything though.
Guys, you'll be pleased to know there's a few half naked women in this film.

Advantages: Great acting, Great directing, Great editing Disadvantages: wasn't on long enough
Sin City is an excellent movie that will stand the test of time. Any movie by Quentin Tarantino is a masterpiece but Sin City is in a league of it's own. The acting is brilliant the hint of colour that blends effortlessly into the black and white exterior is genious. And the editing of the movie deserves an award.Bruce Willis is the action hero we all love to watch and this movie is no different. Jessica Alba is the once again flawless action heroine ...

Advantages: Many stories which means you never get bored Disadvantages: The black and white setting gets irritating at some point
I had heard that sin city was a must see from a friend of mine who rates them for a living. Given his experience at telling what is a good film I decided to rent it out (well my girlfriends sister did). I thought it was a very good film but not "unmissable.
The storyline isnt really explainable as there are three diferent stories which interlink. One of the stories follows a monster of a man called Marv (Mickey Rourke), he is a meat-head and can ...

WARNING : IF YOU INTEND ON WATCHING THIS FILM AND HATE KNOWING VALUABLE PLOT POINTS YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK ELSEWHERE :p
This film is a mile-stone in the history of films, sure its not the first of its kind, but it hasen't been done in a while, and by god is it entertaining!
Based on the "Graphic Novels of Frank Miller", as so many people quote, this story has a few seperate stories within it, it starts with the steriotypical good cop, that does bad ...

Advantages: A fantastic mixture of both story lines and cast Disadvantages: Very bloody and violent, not for the faint hearted.
Sin City is based on a comic stories by Frank Miller. Sin City is violent and blood thirsty film. The police are corrupt and the streets increadiably deadly, with different gangs and story lines through out the film. In the end they all come together so don't be put off by the confusing storylines and quick scene swapping.
You will actually follow three stories. The main story is that of Marv. Marv (Mickey Rouke) is as tough as nails and almost ...

A really unique film, i loved the fact it was in black and white it looked very classicly classy. Its got a really unpredictable plot, great cast. Has 4 different story lines to keep you hooked and the way they all link in the end is superbly done. Must see :)

Advantages: Brilliant fantasy, gothis storylines Disadvantages: Poor DVD extras
This movie is amazing. I have no idea where the begin with all the things it does right. First, Rodriguez had the testicular fortitude to insist on including Miller in the mix to bring the
graphic novels to light.
For anyone who hasn't seen this film, this dvd is a must buy. It is split into a number of small stories that interlink into a wider picture of the city.
The film is comprised of three separate vignettes, though common characters are ...

...are all going on in sin city - not the best place to go on holiday!
There are several stories inter-linked -some what like Quentin Tarantino's "pulp fiction". So, it's no suprise that he was a special guest director on the film.
There are "hero's" in this ghastly world of sin.
They come in the form of Bruce Willis, Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke.
Bruce Willis(Hartigan) plays an ageing cop who "wants to do the right thing". He has a heart condition ...

...exstensive 'Behind the scenes of Sin City' which is a really interesting look at the journey of how the graphic novels by Frank Miller made it to the big screen and how they managed to pick there huge and exspensive cast.
The film itself is very good. The film itself, is in a leauge of it's own. With interesing and exciting plots and characters that only dreams can create. Each seperate storyline is equaly as good as the others but a word of warning ...

...truely is a city of sin from bad cops, killers and gun toting prostitutes... its been done before you may think, but never in the slick incredibly sexy style of this film. To be honest i watched it twice just to make sure i did'nt miss anything the first time, the pace is fast and the story jumps from place to place and the time line goes back an forth. Not for everyone but if you love action, bad guys that you want to be and your not put off by lots ...

I watched this film as I had been recommended it by a work colleague!
At the end of the film all I could think was "well there is 2 hours of my life I will never get back, what a waste".
I don't know if I missed something but I sat there the whole time thinking "Am I missing the point here"
Firstly it is important to know that the film is in Black & White, except for the blood (which there is a lot off).
Although you may think it stars ...

Advantages: Stylishly filmed Disadvantages: Over violent at times
Ultra violent and stylish film noir, based on the Frank Miller comic. This movie follows the adventures of 3 main charcters through a lawless and dangerous city. Filmed against Green Screen the background looks superbly dark and exactly how it looked in the graphic novels the movie is based on. Robert Rodriguez holds no bars with the content of this movie, a peadofile, a cannibal who eventual gets eaten alive by his pet wolf, a 19 year old stripper ...

...I was fairly disappointed with Sin City.
The black and white visual style jumps out at you and is especially effective as only red is displayed. I enjoyed this effect and made the movie feel larger than life.
The main problem with Sin City is that it's pretty boring. The story covers three interlinking semi-superhuman characters in a decaying city. Not being a comic book fan, or having read any of the comic books, I felt no nostalgia or affiliation ...
