Advantages: Original classic comedy Disadvantages: None
The Simpsons - Classics - Springfield Murder Mysteries is a compilation of Simpsons episodes with a recurring theme. The theme for this DVD is murder, so expect some black comedy. Episodes included are "Who Shot Mr. Burns?", "Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part 2)", "Black Widower" and "Cape Feare".
"Who Shot Mr. Burns?" is the first and, so far, the only Simpsons episode to be split into two parts. It deals with Mr. Burns, who steals oil right from underneath ... ...he decides to block out the sun, so the town will use more of his electricity. Suddenly there's a bang, and Burns slumps down on the sundial. Who did it?
As this was the end of the sixth season and the beginning of the seventh, there was a long gap before you found out what happened. There was intense speculation about what happened, and this only increased the popularity of the show. There was even a "Springfield's Most Wanted" show looking at ...

...do when you own all the seasons of the Simpsons on DVD? You buy these special box-sets. This one contains the following four episodes. • Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part One • Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part Two • Black Widower • Cape Feare I am pretty sure the first two episodes are the only example of a two part episode in the show’s history. They come from season six, and they are very very funny! The story revolves around Mr Burns being shot by an unknown gunman. ... ...in this DVD set is the time wait between the two episodes – months went by between the two parts in the US screening, and it was really used as an advertising campaign. Watching both episodes back to back in this format as presented here is still funny, but it loses some of its original charm.

Advantages: Four classic episodes on one disc Disadvantages: None
In my opinion the quality of the Simpsons, particularly after season 14, has dipped somewhat. The episodes are still funny, but they're not as watchable as some of the classic episodes from earlier seasons. The reason for purchasing this DVD is that these four episodes are for me some of the finest, particularly the Who Shot Mr Burns episodes. This dvd contains four episodes, the two Who Shot Mr Burns episodes from seasons six and seven, and two ... ...and Mr Burns to be the most villanous characters on the show, so it's good to have them on one disc. Sideshow Bob, voiced by Fraiser's Kelsey Grammar, is a legendary Simpsons character, and his two episodes are brilliant. The first of these, Black Widower, sees Bob marrying Marge's sister Selma, not for love of course, but for her money. This episode is very, very funny, particularly the sequences between Selma and Bob, and Selma's efforts to try ...
