The Silence of the Lambs is inbetween a horror and a psychologial thriller in which budding FBI student Clarice Starling is sent on a case which turns out to be a lot more important than expected. Silence of the Lambs is one of those films that has just got to be seen by any self respecting movie addict. It’s gone down in history as one of those all time classics, and well deserving of that title it is too. The Silence of the Lambs is a psychological thriller/horror, depending on the way you interpret it. It has all the elements that make a good movie an excellent movie, but more about that later! Would you believe that this film is ... ...I think so. Silence of the Lambs spurred a sequel, called Hannibal. I’m sure you all know about it by now, but this hasn’t done half as well as the first, maybe because of the change in the female lead, I don’t know, but it doesn’t have that ‘classic’ note about it, maybe it was just another sequel, but Hannibal just didn’t have as much of the ‘edge of your seat’ moments that Silence of the Lambs ...

The Silence Of The Lambs bagged itself five major Oscars, including Best Picture, a feat unprecedented for what many people considered to be a ‘horror’ film. But a decade on, Silence has proven itself to be a classic thriller that fully deserved its gongs. With this reputation to live up to, MGM had to do something special with the DVD release, and it did so. From the slowly circling CGI recreation of Hannibal Lecter’s cell on the ... ...Scully.
On disc, The Silence Of The Lambs gets a superb video transfer (streets ahead of the old Region 1 Criterion DVD) which picks out all the detail hidden in the cold, forbiddingly photographed scenes. Howard Shore’s haunting score is also well-served by the remastered soundtrack. If anything, time has made Silence’s story even more effective. There have been all kinds of serial killer films made since Demme’s film legitimised ...

Silence of the Lambs.
It is a name that should once again be increasingly familiar now that its sequel, Hannibal has been released.
Now that I have actually seen the sequel, it just puts an emphasise on the importance of the role played by Jodie Foster, Hannibal was not right without her as Clarice Starling!

Anthony Hopkins is superb as the villain as the piece, but for me, it is really Jodie Foster who shines in her role as Clarice.
