Advantages: Solid themes in which plot is based around Disadvantages: very limited setting
Grahem Hess (mel Gibson) lost his wife and from that he then lost his religious faith. One morning he woke up to find a huge circle precisely cut into his cornfiled. Is this a hoax or something more sinister?
The director manages to display some serious themes of faith, fate and coincidence without making the film dull. The plot constantly keeps you on the edge of the seat as silence comes across as scary and inaction is disturbing. Yet throughout ... ...mood of audience until the next disturbing sequence, in which the effect of shock is then exagerated by M. Night Shyamalans (director, writer and part producer) plot techniques.
Overall 'Signs' is a terrific, spooky drama about a family faced with an alien invasion. I thought it was excellent and reccomend it to anyone old enough to view it! ...

Advantages: Acting, atmosphere, direction Disadvantages: ENDING!
M. Night Shyamalan is the man responsible for the excellent Sixth Sense and the only quite good Unbreakable. This is his latest effort, it’s about crop circles. The very idea sounds like he’s already running out of phenomenon to portray his own twist on.
It doesn’t star Bruce Willis this time, instead it’s Mel Gibson who’s reviving his career with something serious (sort of). He’s a farmer/retired priest. One day he wakes up to find a large crop ... ...Another crop circle appears, he thinks that’s a hoax too. And then the aliens start coming. It’s actually quite good, but only quite good. It has an attempt at ‘is-it-real-or-isn’t-it’ but no one would ever think that it might all be hoax because that would make it the most boring film ever. The real suspense is concerning what the aliens want and when they’re going to arrive. The problem is that the film isn’t actually about the aliens and what ...

Advantages: Mel Gibson in a role that, surprisingly, suits him. Disadvantages: None that come to mind. A Complex film directed in a very stylish way. The kind of way only one director could manage.
After sixth sense, then unbreakable. You would think that M Night Shyamalan would have had a hard task to stay at the top of his form, but you, like me, would be wrong.
Mel Gibson Plays a former priest and the father of two, his wife having died in a car accident many years ago making him distrust his beliefs in god. The story revolves around the myth that crop circles are created as a map by alien beings, so they are able to plan an attack.
The ... ...managing to play one off against the other.
A strong supporting role from the ex-baseball champion of the town is a stereotypical American entry, but it helps to give its story the down to earth appeal.
Shyamalan manages to capture these kind of genres very well and just keeps doing so.
A top class performance by all actors involved.
Little surprised it was a 12, even I had to close my eyes because of the fear that my heart would pop out of its ...

Advantages: An excellent suspenseful film Disadvantages: disapointing ending
Signs the third movie from m. night shyamalan. As a fan of sixth sense and unbreakablewas one of thoose films that i had looked forward to for some time.
The film centres around Graham Hess (Mel gibson) and his family on there farm and there discovery of crop circles in there field. From here the first half of the film is a case of "whats going on?" Is it aliens or is it a hoax. The first half of the film is wonderfully suspensful as you are never ... ...and the acting is top notch even from the younger actors who play the children Morgan (Rory Culkin) and Bo (Abigail Breslin). The second half of the film (without giving too much away) is again suspensful in parts, especially the basement scene, but was too strung out and had quite a bit of filler. All this leading to what seemed a very pointless ending that seemed to me like Mr shyamalan didn't really know how he wanted to end the film.
Most of ...

Advantages: puts some new ideas on the table Disadvantages: not alot
Signs brought to you by M Night Shyamalan who also directed films such as The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. The film stars Mel Gibson who plays a former clergyman Graham Hess who lives on a farm with his younger brother (played by Joaquin Phoenix) and his two children. The family live an ordinary life until one morning they awake to huge crop circles appearing around the world and one of them right outside the family’s house. The film then progresses ...

Advantages: Joaquin Phoenix Disadvantages: Mel Gibson as a Farmer
...Space 1999, a film likes Signs is doomed to dissapoint me, firstly it stars Mel Gibson who starred in one of the best films of the 70's, Mad Max but then subsequently went on to star in some good stuff such as 'year of living dangerously' as well as forgetable Hollywood action movies, ok Signs goes back on the tradition of mega special effects and concentrates more on the story which is admirable, frankly i thought Mel was miscast and the scene where ... ...was cringe making.
It was original in that it did not feature a typical Nuclear Farming Family against a backdrop of global mayhem, focusing rather on what 'happens here is magnified worldwide' perhaps? 'less is more' obviously being the prefered objective.
Personally the ending was entirely a cop out with the boy being revived and surviving because he had asthma, this was just too far fetched within the context of the homespun plot.
Maybe i just ...
