I have been reluctant to write about the film called SIGNS because a strange thing happened the next morning and continues until today! ...the Newspaper that shows the signs that are made in the Farmer’s fields. So I don’t think that this reveals much of the plot. In the movie you do see some old news reels that are suppose to explain why these Farmers are seeing crop circles, (the signs), and strange lights in the night sky in some Countries around the World. Naturally this makes these People even more afraid than they were before. The Aliens we see are not ’’little green or gray’’ ...

...best climaxes ever. But alas Signs is a complete turkey, too stale for Christmas lunch. I am not sure who is to blame, the director, the writers or the producer for having a low budget or perhaps Mr. Gibson for sponging most of it. I like Mel Gibson. He's getting on a bit now but he's always been a watchable actor. Film choice has been getting a bit dodgy lately but I'm willing to go along with him. So when this film was released a few years ago I was disappointed not to see it at the cinema because not only does he star in it but it's also written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. This is the guy who wrote and directed 'The Sixth Sense' which I really enjoyed and 'Unbreakable' ...
...though with intelligent plots that kept you guessing so I had high hopes for 'Signs'. I thought the trailer for 'Signs' was very intriguing and tantalising so that was a good start. Mel Gibson plays a farmer in America who discovers mysterious crop circles in his fields and his family are disturbed by strange noises. Short clips in the trailer suggest ideas for what could be happening - aliens? supernatural? It all looks quite spooky and thrilling ...

Signs was anticipated by many to be a hit and it certainly didn't disappoint. Mel Gibson was superb in his role as Graham Hess and Joaquin Pheonix gave a rock solid performance. The main genre of this film was aliens and the supernatural. However, there is a definitive deeper meaning. Signs the third movie from m. night shyamalan. As a fan of sixth sense and unbreakablewas one of thoose films that i had looked forward to for some time. The film centres around Graham Hess (Mel gibson) and his family on there farm and there discovery of crop circles in there field. From here the first half of the film is a case of "whats going on?" The second half of the film (without giving too much away) is again suspensful in parts, especially the basement scene, but was too strung out and had quite a bit of filler. That's not necessarily a bad thing; it's just that I came away thinking much of the film was very, very similar to the Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, both of which I enjoyed. I was extremely dissapointed as it's a Spielberg... admittedly the trailer hadn't exactly spiked me to see it in the cinema, so I rented it on DVD. £3.50 down the pan. ...you cant go wrong. Signs is a story about a man called Father Graham Hess ( Mel Gibson) who lives with his two young children Bo (Abigain Breslin) and his son Morgon ( Rory Cuilkin) .
