Advantages: Strong performance from Weller, good story Disadvantages: Low budget, slightly predictable
Screamers is unabashadly a budget science fiction movie with a limited budget. What it manages to achieve is not as impressive as "The Hidden" for example, but it does still stand head and shoulders above many others of the genre.
The film is set upon a remote icy planet once rich in minerals, now devastated by war and almost empty of life. A large decaying city illustrates how vibrant the planet once was, but that was then and this is now.
Two ... ...in the story. In summary, Screamers is a good, if not outstanding film and a good way to spend just over an hour and a half if your expectations are not too high. As expected, a waning Peter Weller holds the film togeather and out-acts anyone else on the screen. The support from his co-stars is acceptable, but not outstanding.
