The hip, darkly comical sequel to self-aware "SCREAM." Sidney Prescott, now in college, once again finds herself the target of a bloodthirsty, cloak-clad, mask-wearing,...
more...knife-wielding, psychotic killer whose penchant for pop movie trivia runs deep. This time, however, the body count is higher and the deaths more outrageous--traits of a true sequel, as noted by one unfortunate victim. Not as pithy as the first film, but still a satisfying, definite true-to-form teen slasher.

Don't forget to Scream
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by jenny_carr

Advantages: Great film all round
Disadvantages: a bit bloody

I watched Scream about 8 months ago after buying it on video. Recently we bought a new DVD player and I decided to rent out a DVD so I went down to my local shop and rented Scream 2. I have always been worried about watching “Scary” films but after seeing Scream I knew I’d be ok. I noticed that Scream was 15 and that Scream 2 was an 18 but that didn’t stop me wanting to know what happened after Scream. Scream 2 stars: Neve ... Read review

Sequels are never as good....
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Still quite gory, still makes you jump on occasion
Disadvantages: Not as good as the first but that was to be expected!

After seeing Scream a good few years back I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel (ok, sequels now!) to come out on TV. (You must understand that although Scream 2 has been out on video for a while…. I only rarely buy the video’s!) So, when I was looking through the Weekend TV guide and noticed Scream 2 was going to be shown on Channel 4 I was determined not to miss it! Normally I forget about them until the day after when everyone ... Read review

Second Part bends the rules
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by Angelus

Advantages: more of the same
Disadvantages: more of the same

Well, Scream 1 was great wasn't it, it was a whole new addition to the teen-scream genre, bringing a tired type of movie back to life - and oh how good it was, but we're not here to talk about the first movie, its the second one - does it live up to its promise? well read on faithful ciaoser and all shall be explained. We join the story at the premiere of the new movie "stab" (Look out for a cameo appearance by Tori Spelling, remember the joke ... Read review

screaming again and again on dvd
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by utero

Advantages: good suspense and scares, a lot more polished
Disadvantages: weak ending

Scream 2's initial release on dvd was an underwhelming affair. If you had the R1/R2 version all you got was a widescreen print of the film, not 16x9 enhanced and devoid of any extras. Well now that situation has been redeemed with the release of a collectors edition of the film. In R1 land it's available in a bix set and is anamorphic. The same goes for R2 except that some clever guy forgot to include an anamorphic transfer. Yep this means that ... Read review

Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by le_strange

Advantages: Great cast, Suspense, Twice the Action
Disadvantages: Detective Dufus.

...of a Wes Craven fan. Scream 2 (1997) is the second part of an enjoyable, memorable, modern horror trilogy - directed by Wes Craven (US). In this sequel to the 1996 classic Scream 1, a masked killer returns to get stab happy in copycat fashion. It has been two years since the events at Woodsboro and the surprising discovery of the original Killers identity. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and film nut Randy (Jamie Kennedy) are both students at ... Read review

Bending The Rules
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by Nameless

Advantages: Scary and wel written, with good perfomances and a great director
Disadvantages: Never going to be as good as the first one

Scream 2 is the inevitable sequel to the groundbreaking smash hit Scream. If you don’t know what Scream is, check out one of the many excellent ops on Ciao before reading this, might as well do it in order huh? Otherwise this op may ruin it, as I’m going to have to refer to it in some way. OK, if you’re still reading I assume you know what Scream is, and hopefully you have seen it. I’ll try not to give anything away for ... Read review

Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by 1drunkbrit

Advantages: Another good script, filled with comical moments
Disadvantages: If you've scene Scary Movie, you wont be able to watch the opening ten minutes with a straight face!

...but also at the original Scream film. The film begins with the premiere of new Horror film "Stab", based on the book written by Gale Weathers (Cox). As a promotion, the cinema is giving away cloaks and masks to everyone who sees the film, so when Phil Stevens and his girlfriend Maureen Evans (Pinkett-Smith) walk to their seats they find hundreds of people with white masks and black capes. Freaky! To cut a short story short (!), the couple end up ... Read review

Scream Louder!
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by pizzacat

Advantages: Great Cast and strong writing
Disadvantages: lack of originality of first movie

...the second instalment is the Scream trilogy. The survivors of the original are back. Sydney (Campbell) is now in college and trying her darndest to forget what happened to her a year ago. She is a theatre major with a new crew of friends including survivor Randy (Jamie Kennedy) and things seem to be going fine. Meanwhile Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) has cashed in on Sydney’s story by publishing a book and a movie ironically called Stab, about Sydney's ... Read review

IT'S ANOTHER SCREAM BABY
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by robinsky

Advantages: Just like the first one
Disadvantages: Bit Slow

He's back with another sequel is our horror director/writer, Wes Craven. The second film's prologue takes place at a cinema where Maureen (Jada Pinkett) and her boyfriend Phil have gone to see a film called Stab. It is based on the events of Sidney Prescott's life. When Phil goes to the toilet, he is killed (inexplicable somewhat) and the killer dons his clothes and murders Maureen. At a college campus, Sidney tells Randy she is sure its starting ... hmmmm
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by Gemgemmings

Advantages: all round good entertainment
Disadvantages: is it a comedy or a horror?

Scream 2 follows the same basic formula as the first but isn't, in my opinion, as good as the first was, that is not to put down this film because it was very good on it's own merits, but no compared to the first. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is now in college and is once again the target of a bloodthirsty mask-wearing, knife-wielding, psychotic killer. However this time the body count is higher and the deaths are more outrageous and elaborate, ... Read review

Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by Kelvan

Advantages: Scarier than the first
Disadvantages: Not as good as the original

...sequel to the simply amazing Scream had to be funnier, sexier and gorier to please the audiences, and this is exactly what it is! Scream 2 reunites the Scream survivors at Windsor college, a small Midwestern university, two years after the first movie ends. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has grown smarter and tougher since the murders two years ago. David Arquette is back as deputy Dewey Riley along with Jamie Kennedy who plays Randy Meeks ... More blood and guts that Horror
Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by begum

Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text

... Scream 2 carries on from Scream 1, so if you haven’t seen it before, it will take you a while to get the name and the plot. The film is good but if some spoil sports has told you the murderer, then the plot can be lost and the excitement lost. The acting is good and the director ‘Wes Craven’ can be satisfied with what he produced. But, it’s not a compelling movie, I have got it on video and I have only watched in twice, ... Read review

Advantages: Good film, good acting by everyone....
Disadvantages: gets worse as they do more i find.....

Why is it a sequel movie is not as good as the first, hopefully you will enjoy this and then want to see no3, Yes there is a no3, i won't say anything about it. I will do another opinion on that. Hope this helps you choose whether or not to watch this film. If you are reading this review and have not seen the original, then stop reading and go rent the original. Review of Scream 2 (Wide Screen) by MByford

Advantages: Great scenes
Disadvantages: Similar to 1st film

...as possible from the first Scream film. The film has several quite powerul scenes that i'm sure will make an impact on many people. The actors such as Sarah Michelle Gellar are still good although she does not last long in this film at all. However, the film is still very good and I would recommend it to anybody that may want to watch the film. This is a film that I would definetely watch again if I had the chance as it is very entertaining ... Read review
