...something in the film about scary films having crap endings with stupid plot twists, so its ok that the plot was completely mindless. Everyone I have talked to has some strong opinion about this film, I personally found it to be too much of a rip off to be funny. The way spoof movies work of course if by ripping off other movies, but to just use the entire storyline of another movie just doesn't really appeal to me, I mean I might aswell have just watched Scream again and saved myself £2.50. The expectations of Scary movie were simple and therefore should have been simple to achieve. A horror spoof, the ultimate joke on what should not be a joke. However Scary Movie failed quite abysmally. Not only was it a spoof of the Scream trilogy, which was a spoof in its own right, incorporating every horror cliche known to man. Scary Movie is not a film that I expected to be even remotely good. I found the concept of spoofing films that were effectively spoofs themselves (though more subtly) daft. This is definitely the funniest film that I have ever seen. The script must have been written with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder in mind because I can’t think of anyone better to play their characters. The reason I chose the above title for this review was to reflect the film itself- piffle. This film was one of the tackiest and most unoriginal films I have ever seen. I couldn't disagree more with people who have said that this film is too silly to be any good. But unless your the kind of person who really likes films that, more than being a 'real film' in themselves, rely on poking fun at others, than you might dismiss this as senseless rubbish.
