I went to see Scary movie at the cinema when it first came out and was a bit dubious at first as to how funny it was going to be. it turned out to be very satirical and outrageously funny. The basic plot is a spoof of scary films including Scream, I know what u did last summer, the matrix etc.. The main character is a girl called Sindy (whereas in Scream she is called Sydney) and she has some dumb looking friends who manage to get themselves killed ...
...any of this is in Scary movie 2 which i am to go and see this week. The aim of the film is still to guess, as in the Scream trilogy who the killer or killers are.... This film is a must see for people who not only like horror but also like comedy and spoof movies. ...

This is an irritating and offensive movie. ...was apparantly a huge hit. Scary Movie works on a lot of levels but also fails on a lot as well. When the film parodies all the recent slasher pics then it really works with a lot of clever jokes. This movie is hillarious. It makes fun of the glut of teen horror movies that have been out in the last few years and takes particular notice of Scream and I Know what you did last summer, taking its plot from a combination of the two stories. I thought that the 2 funniest scenes were the Cinema sceene and the wazzz upppp! scene, and these have nothing to do with scream or I know what you did last summer. ...gags. And a cameo from Dawson from Dawsons creek right at the begining of the film which isn't at all funny. I'm surprised the makers of "Scream" and "I know what you did last summer" didn't try to sue the directors of this film. Subtlety is not an issue here. If you've seen teen slasher films such as scream, I know what you did last summer and all of their sequels then the chances are you'll enjoy this. Rather than concentrating on the horror, it mocks the genre as a whole, stealing large chunks of 'plot' (if you can call it that!) from these films. Did the Wayans brothers actually bother to watch Scream? I suspect not, otherwise they'd have realised the futility in trying to out-spoof what was already a knowing critique of the slasher genre. The title of Scary Movie is slightly misleadind. It is not at all scary but it is absolutely hilarious. It is ironic that Screams original name was to be Scary Movie before it was changed at the last minute to Scream. It takes the rip out of every horrer movie you can think of and even takes time to copy the Matrix. I have just watched the Scary Movie video and I thought it was petty funny. You have to take into account before watching this spoof flick that it is just meant to be silly.
