Advantages: Great horror film with a brilliant plot and twist Disadvantages: Torturous violence will deter some people
The 2004 film Saw spouted three sequels in three successive years. Its twisting plotlines have been acclaimed both critically and commercially.
The Plot
Two men, Adam and Lawrence, wake up in what appears to be a very dirty and old bathroom, each chained to opposite walls. In between them is a dead body in a pool of blood, a tape player within reach. Each has a tape, revealing the 'game'. Thus follows a twisting tale of events set up by Jigsaw, ... ...his intended victims. Can the two men escape with their lives (and everything else) intact? And who else is involved in the tale?
The Cast and Performances
Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannell play Lawrence and Adam, and are very convincing as victims of a horrible revenge plot. They play their respective characters in a suspenseful manner, and are helped by the mood of the film and the helplessness of the situation. There is good support from Dina Meyer ...

Advantages: Orignal, Clever, A Non-Stop Twist And Turn Plot That Will Leave You Breathless Disadvantages: Some of the acting is pretty weak
Saw, a horror film I expected nothing of, but still because of some of the hype I heard I had decided to check it out, and thank god I did. Horror films today face a crisis, if we ain't been spoon fed a remake, we are being spoon fed a crap rip off. This film has took some critiscim, but this film need's praise, it's not your normal slasher in any sense and I haven't seen a killer so cruel and bizzare as this one, since Seven. Films like these are ... ...Because if we dont praise what is orignal, we will be fed that what is isn't
Story - Jigsaw is our man, our saviour, he take's people who are not deserving of life, and give's them a chance to prove there willingness to surrive in his cruel and twisted trap/games based on there personailty or situation, if they surrive they are free to escape and have shown there purpose. This films follow's two of Jigsaw's victims, locked by chains in a wall, they ...

Advantages: Gore and horror with gripping suspense throughout, a movie full to the brim of twists and turns. Very compelling. Disadvantages: Being pedantic the acting isn't the greatest. Nothing outstanding, but its a horror movie and you watch it for the gore.
...a lot of people comparing Saw to Seven. I've never liked comparing a new film to another as a way of categorising or rating it. Firstly, the film used as the comparison is usually a good film that a lot of people know and like so you're already setting the bar high for the new film. But the worst thing about such comparisons is that they are inevitably misleading. Yes, there are similarities between Saw and Seven but they are tenuous and on the whole ... ...Saw expecting Seven. It's not in my view a good comparison; one is a thriller the other is purely horror.
It's a scary movie that expertly plays on some traditional and commonplace fears. From a horror movie I don't expect much else and to be fair it does keep you guessing until the very end. For all those of you out there that like to spoil films for yourselves by trying to guess the end or the next twist, I guarantee you wont get this one.
It ...

Two men wake up in the middle of a dirty, old bathroom to find themselves chained up to toilets unknowing that it is the layer of the serial killer known as 'jigsaw.' As they sit there trying to figure how to get out they realise that 'Jigsaw' doesn't want to kill them he wants them to kill each other, and to state the obvious they are having trust issues as they have no idea how they got there or what they did the day/ night before. As the case ... ...as he goes on he has a theory that Dr. lawrence Gordan (one of the guys in the bathroom) is the serial killer. With this theory he has missed many routes that would lead him staright to 'Jigsaw's' right hand man. Dr. Lawrence played by Gary Ewels is one of the main characters in this movie he is the story of why they are both in there but you have to put together the peices to find out why.
Adam played by the writer Leigh Whannel is a great character ...

Advantages: Excellent story and good pace of the movie Disadvantages: poor acting and some errors in the film
Saw is arguabely one of the best thriller movies ever made. The Movie has an excellent story which will keep on the edge of your seats. The movie is scary and the gore in the movie makes it more interesting along with the suspense that is kept alive till the last minute in the movie. The movie is about a serial killer who finds ways and forces his victims to kill themselves. The climax of the movie is the plus point of the movie. This is an excellent ... ...recommended for the people who like horror movie.
Some of the Weak points of the movie are the poor acting by some of the actors and also some goofups in the movie.
All in all it can be said that this is one of the best horror movies and surely not for the weak hearted people.
Recommended to all the horror movie lovers but dont watch it alone!!!! ...

Advantages: Has a brilliant twist at the end and the whole film is great Disadvantages: Might be a little too brutal for some people
...and imagination these days, but Saw has both of these qualities, and more. The film begins with two men (Adam, and Dr Gorden) waking up in a dark dingy bathroom and they find themselves chained to opposite ends of the room by their feet. There is a dead body in the middle of the room, and in one of his hands is a tape player. Each of the men find tapes in their pockets and they play them to find out what they must do to escape the room alive. The ... ...of the best things about Saw is the ending. The huge twist at the end is enough to give you goosebumps every time you watch it. I give the film five stars in all, but the DVD 4 stars, because of the lack of extras. From what I can remember there is a music video, the making of the music video and a mini featurette. But the main reason for buying the DVD is the film, which is one of the best I've ever seen. ...

Dr. Lawrance Gordan and another man named Adam are both locked in a room with chains around one of their legs preventing them to escape unharmed. They find a dead man in the middle of the room. Advantages: Good suspense - Plot Twists Excellent Disadvantages: I should have seen it coming
This film starts in a dingey room with two men chained to opposite ends, each wondering why the other is where they are.
Then the plot begins to kick in - It's a game that they have to play to see who is the strongest psychologically.
Over the course of the film the lead characters begin to learn about why they are in the predicament in which they find themselves. The person holding them informs them that unless they escape, there will be certain ... ...the room all help them put two and two together. Pushed to breaking point who knows what lengths a person will go to in order to survive or to save others. Manipulation of the mind and situation is the order of the day and the twists won't disappoint you.
Even without any really big name actors to back it up, this film has good performances, and the suspense builds throughout.
It's not too long, and the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat so ...

Advantages: A horror movie that makes you think!! Disadvantages: none
Now, I must admit I like the slasher movies that involve the psycho who hacks over-sexed teens to bits and just won't die, but I really enjoyed this film. With a title so basic, you won't believe how complex it is.
You already know things are bad when the movie begins. And teh movies depends a lot upon flashbacks, which I personally enjoy. It makes you have to put the story together. The two main characters/victims are opposites-a well-respected ... ...a young single photographer trying to make ends meet-but you get a glimpse into their lives through the flashbacks. And you actually get to like the two main characters, which makes the progression of the movie almost sad.
The" killer" creates a web of killers who kill in order to survive(say that five times fast!). So you don't know who the mastermind isuntil the very end, and even when you find out, the movie doesn't really end. ...

Advantages: Very Twisting Plot Disadvantages: Could be Confusing, Below-Average Acting, Disturbing
This film is confusing from the start, and you don't really know what is going on until the very last few minutes of the film, and even then you might need to watch it again. Many viewers will be tempted to switch off their film half way through, but I would urge them not to, the ending is worth the wait. This film is very gory and is certainly not suitable for the sqeamish. The plot is very compelling due to the multiple twists and so on, however ... ...It is also quite disturbing, and is certainly not suitable for those under 18, and is possibly deserving of an 18R rating. Be sure that you are strong enough to handle the mind games! The acting is also quite poor, and less than convincing, however this does add to the spirit of the film. All in all the film is at least average, but it is certainly not suitable if you are looking for a romantic night in! ...
