SAVING GRACE is genuinely funny British comedy about Grace, a recently widowed woman who risks losing her wonderful estate and beautiful garden because of the huge debts her...
more...husband left when he died. To cure her financial ailments, she uses her horticultural talent to raise--and then sell--marijuana plants. But, when Grace gets herself caught between the police, some serious London drug pushers, and the real estate agents who have a claim on the estate, audiences will certainly turn a blind eye to the law in order to "save Grace."

Gracefully Funny
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by TheChocolateLady

Advantages: Fun acting, excellent timing, beautiful setting, lots of laughs
Disadvantages: No smell-o-vision!!!!! Too smooth an ending.

...expanded on this character from Saving Grace for his "Doc Martin" films/TV series). He is also in love with Nicky, while being in cahoots with Matthew in his illicit pot growing. Set in picturesque Cornwall, Nigel Cole makes his big-screen film direction debut with this picture. Cole takes full advantage of all the possible twists a script like this can offer, and keeps the stereotypes to an absolute minimum - drawing upon them only when slapstick ... Read review

"Matthew.. Will You Give Me One??"
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by lizrow

Advantages: So funny!! Martin Clunes is in it and he's funny
Disadvantages: Drug use can seem too lax

Due to failed business plans and mortgaging and re-mortgaging their home, Grace is desperate. SAVING GRACE - THE MOVIE
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by thingywhatsit

Advantages: British Humour at its best.
Disadvantages: none

...lot to do with her saving her home, plants that are of a somewhat illegal nature. The interaction of village people, the village priest, doctor, and bobby are so funny, you have to see this film to appreciate it. A gentle film that brings British comedy into modern living in a way that makes me think of all things British. Do watch this movie. The actual price I paid was eight pounts from E'bay on DVD, but it was the best eight pounds that ... Read review

You'll Have to Locate her First
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by avitallly

Advantages: Wasted Old Ladies
Disadvantages: Lacks some sort of je ne sais quoi

The plot: Blethyn's husband dies and leaves her with huge debts. She collaborates with the gardener, and the two of them hatch a smokin' plot to rescue her house and lifestyle from the ruthless debt collectors. The confusion: I found it really difficult to get into the story as I was distracted by the confusion as to where the is set. The ecletic mix of Irish, Scottish, London and Cornish accents are totally confusing. And that's just when the ... Read review

Funnier if you're stoned.
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by MonkeyboyUK

Advantages: Refreshingly unbiased and quite amusing
Disadvantages: Naive

When her husband dies, formerly well-to-do Grace finds out that not only was he a crook but that he has also left her penniless and with massive debts. With eviction looming, she is at a loss about what to do until her pot-smoking gardener, Matthew, suggests that she puts her gardening skills to good use by growing and selling copious amounts of marijuana. The inhabitants of this sleepy Cornish village soon feel the effects. What's refreshing ... Read review

Corker Of A Comedy
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by gailmill

Advantages: Vert funny, well acted, gorgeous scenery
Disadvantages: none

This film is a delight to watch. From the opening sequences to the end you are simply rivetted to this hillarious story, which is beautifully filmed and features tremendous actors. Starring the talented Brenda Blethyn, gorgeous Craig Ferguson and dopey Martin Clunes as the druggie GP ?!?!? Left impoverished by her swine of a husband, widow Grace, because of her financial straights and with help from her laconic gardener decides to start growing ... Read review

Ganja a plenty
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by siany

Advantages: It's British
Disadvantages: Bit far fetched

I really didn't think that this was my type of film. How would i like a film that invilved a middle age women growing pot for a living? Doesn't sound promicing does it, and yet i didn't see anyone leaving the cinema without a smile on their faces, and, isn't this generally the reason we go to the cinema! The plot is far fetched with the main character Blethyn(think i spelt it wrong, soz)losing her husband and discovering that she was also left ... Read review

Don't miss this hidden gem
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by JetSetter

Advantages: Unusual story and actors
Disadvantages: Little publicity

Saving Grace is a little-publicised film that came out quite recently, although it might have stopped showing now at the big cinemas because it's not a major crowd-puller. It's set in a cornish fishing village where a middle aged woman who has been recently widowed discovers that here husband has left her with loads of debts, and she has no way of repaying them. She just happens to be a fantastic gardener, and gets together with some local lads who ... Read review

Laughing my journey away
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by carolinesite

Advantages: Very Funny
Disadvantages: Slow to start

When I first saw a preview of this film on a trailer it looked very good and a film I would make a point of wanting to go and see or get out on video. To my delight while travelling on a virgin flight to the states, they were showing it on board the flight! It took a while to get started with the usual reading of the will stuff but the humour came when they started to grow 'weed', a jokable, debatable subject that in the hands of someone not usual ... British triumph
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by bigphil

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

This is a very pleasant film. Sure, it starts off with a well used scenario, a retired lady left bankrupt by her ambitious dead husband. Facing the loss of all she has ever known, homelessness looks a likely possibility. Something has to be done and the corrisponding hour leaves you laughing and with a grin on your face. The slightly weak plot is reinforced by the great acting you expect from Brenda Blethin. This is not a big money, special effect ... Read review

A bong for Europe
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by Daniel

Advantages: Absurdly funny
Disadvantages: Most of the characters

It's an old story. Boy meets girl, boy dies of old age, girl discovers boy has left her bankrupt, girl attempts to make a killing by growing dope. Oh yes, and girl's friends (mostly pensioners) get totally wasted following huge marijuana fire. Saving Grace fits neatly into the gentle Britcomedy mould of Full Monty or Waking Ned. Words like whimsical or, dare one say, heartwarming are likely to feature in most reviews. But there is a good side ... Read review

Potted laughter
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by Kate

Advantages: This film is very, very funny, and Brenda Blethyn is brilliant.
Disadvantages: The farce feels slightly old-fashioned, but that actually makes it more fun in my opinion.

Whoever came up with this absurd story may well have smoking some of their own subject. Grace, a respectable, well-bred leading member of the WI, is widowed and discovers that her late unfaithful husband has left her saddled with huge debts, a re-mortgage and no assets. However, her one talent is gardening, and she specialises in hothouses. When her gardener asks for her help to save a sickly hemp plant, Grace forms a plan to grow one large harvest ... Read review

The Best Brit comedy to date!
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by alice

Advantages: Hilarious, just go and watch it!
Disadvantages: If it's not your type of thing... you possibly might not love it.

Yes, it's set in Cornwall, and yes, it's full of old people, but this film's hilarious! The basic story is about an old dear whose husband's died and has been using all of their assets in his failed business ventures. He has left her no money and the repo men are starting to appear and reclaim the debts. It's then that her Glaswegian gardener suggests growing cannabis to settle the debts. Of course this all eventually gets out of hand and hell breaks ... Read review

Save Me
Review of Saving Grace (Wide Screen) by Mattroberts

Advantages: Good Acting and more than one meaning jokes
Disadvantages: Rather good ending but more could have been done

Save me! I am the new Fan of Brenda Blethyn! Her Acting was outsanding in this B-rate film, I must admit It wasn't the worst film I've seen in my life I did rather enjoy it. It starts of with Grace Jones a middle class woman with a massive House in a small village who has just lost her husband. Soon after the funeral She discovers he was badly in debt and she is going to loose everything she owns including her massive house. From the help of her ... Read review
