Advantages: Great special features, wonderfull songs, oppurtunity to see what goes on backstage and you get to see it without travelling. Disadvantages: It does not compare to the full London experieance but it is a good substitute. No lyrics are included.
Having seen this show in London I immediatly fell in love with its bold mix of east and west musical traditions. Although the DVD can't provide all the romp of a London theatre visit it does provide an array of special features. There are backstage scenes and talks with the cast. Whether you have seen it performed live or not this DVD has alot to offer. A friend of mine who had not seen the live performance was quite disapointed that there were no ... ...translation was needed but he did confess that the DVD world still have worked as odd words needed translating.
As a bollywood fan there was nothing new about the storyline or the style of songs. But A. R. Rahman is incapable of failing to ignite the listners imagination with his haunting music. The wonderful incorporation of classical raga's are beautiful to listen to. The performances by the cast are superb and work extreamly well on DVD. The ...
