Advantages: Good Family Fare Disadvantages: Starts a bit slow.
This is the first Jackie Chan movie I've ever seen (Can you believe it?). I watched it on Sky Digital here in the UK and at the beginning of the film I wasn't impressed. Chris Tucker who plays Detective James Carter in the movie stats out by being just plain annoying but after about 20 minutes the plot gets going a bit and theres a great thing going on between Chan and Tucker. Then the movie really takes off and is a fun ride thereafter. Its the ...

In Rush Hour, though, his character is a cocky young cop who thinks he is the bees knees. He soon finds out different when he is assigned the job of keeping Jackie Chan's character out of trouble.
The story is initially set in Hong Kong near the handing over of the colony to the Chinese. Consul Han Solon and his friend Inspector Lee (Chan) prevent pieces of chinese history from being smuggled out. However, this means that the crime ... ...kidnapping of the Consul's daughter Soo Yung when they move to America.
Inspector Lee comes over to help find Soo Yung, but finds the American forces (FBI and police) uncooperative, trying to keep Lee out of the loop. However, this just means that he opens up his own investigation with the help of his baby-sitter, Carter (Tucker).
Together they form a great partnership and lead the rescue attempt for Soo Yung.
This film works so well on many levels. ...

Advantages: Very Funny, Great Extras Disadvantages: None
This is a fantastic movie that is almost like Lethal Weapon except this has the supreme addition of Martial Arts! Jackie Chan stars as a chinese cop who comes to America to find a friend's kidnapped daughter. Chris Tucker is the street wise, dopey police officer who has to look after him, and this leads to hilarious results! The action and comedy in this movie is first class, and makes you wonder why this hasn't been done before. Jackie is fantastic ... ...Tucker is brilliant as the high pitched voiced companion who thinks he's on a big case for the FBI! Scenes to watch out for are the restaurant duel, the dinner banquet and also the first meeting between the cops. In my opinion this film is a classic which has to be bought, and contains non stop action and comedy. The DVD picture quality is good and the sound is great, but the extras blow everything else out of the water! Extra

This is film is great. It has everything that a good comedy should have - great actors, plenty of laughs, action, a good story line and on top of all this it needs to be slick. This film fills all of these categories almost 100%. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan provide a fantastic comedy duo as they follow the trail to find a little chinese girl who has been kidnapped. With Chans fast legs and Tuckers even faster tongue the laughs come thick and fast. ...

Advantages: Jackie Chan's kung fu Disadvantages: bad jokes, bad acting, bad script
Rush Hour is not that good a comedy. Rush Hour stars Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan as two very different cops who are forced too work together to save a little girl’s life and stop a gang of criminals. Rush Hour has some good action moments and the kung fu scenes are brilliant. One of the things, which let Rush Hour down, is bad acting by both Tucker and Chan. I know it’s an action film and, outstanding acting isn’t really needed ...

Advantages: Chris Tuckers sense of humour Disadvantages: Hollywood trying to prove effects make movies
What can you say about this film that has not been said already, it lives up to its billing as “the fastest hands in the east meets the fastest mouth in the west”
Its stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a fast paced action/comedy. Chan plays Inspector Lei who comes to America at the request of his old friend who has had his daugther kidnapped. The Americans F.B.I team Lei up with a cop who wants to join the bureau. This is where Tucker ... ...Lei busy while the F.B.I try to track those responsible.
As is the norm in Chan films fast pace action ensues, however there is a twist as this is a big Hollywood film the effects and stunts take a whole new meaning. Mix into this Tucker’s warped sense of humour and you have one of the better action films.
On a sour note while this is a good film when you compare it to some of Chan’s other efforts ( especially Drunken Master ) it pales ...

Advantages: Jackie Chan of course Disadvantages: Jackie's english dialogue, Tuckers character has been done before
...have just watched my new Rush Hour DVD and really enjoyed it. Its hardly Jackie Chan at his best, but its a pretty good crossover from the normal "Hong-Kong-not-much-of-a-plot" movie.
Tucker is good, but not great. To be honest, Eddie Murphy has kind of done this character and done it better, but he is still convincing enough to keep the movie going. Jackie Chan is definitely the star attraction though, with some incredible stuntwork in a few (but ... ...effort to be 'Hollywood', which Rush Hour could be accused of. A large explosion for no reason, and a bit too much of the rather mediocre FBI men didnt really help.
But the interaction is good, the stunts are always good with Jackie and there are plenty of extras. I got it for under a tenner and its money well spent.
DVD extras
Plenty.

This film is about a man that is mean to be from Japan but the FBI are looking after him. Chris Tucker is hilarious in this he looks after Jacki Chan but he then realises he speaks English, he's good at marshall arts. This is a hilarious film with a story that is good so it's not boring. It lasts about 1 hour 50 minutes. It's for 15+ because of swearing and violence. It can be rented from your local video store or you can buy it. Hve a great time ...

Advantages: Funny in places Disadvantages: a little dissapointing
Rush Hour was a decent buddy movie, but when I saw Rush Hour when it first came out I remembered seeing Lethal Weapon 4 about 2 months ago and it seemed like a rip-off. Both of these movies plots are real different, but it has a lot of the same things: Lethal Weapon 4 had Chris Rock, Rush Hour had Chris Tucker: Both movies had Chinese People: Lethal Weapon 4 had Jet Li, Rush Hour had Jackie Chan. Chris Tucker has one of the most aggravating voices ... ...this movie. The plot of Rush Hour is about the dumbest thing I have ever hear of, but its Jackie Chan's wonderful action scenes that save this movie. Jackie Chan is the best when it comes to action, because he does it all by himself. The chemistry between Chan & Tucker is good, but not how it was between Gibson & Glover. If your a huge fan of Jackie Chan's movies you might be a little disappointed in Rush Hour, but if this is your first time watching ...

this is more than just a buddy buddy cop movie, or a vehicle for jackie chan to break into hollywood, its no secret that i am a chris tucker fan, and this role is superb for him, both actors fit the roles well, and the only distracting thing is chans poor use of the english vocabulary, small fish though, this is an excellent action comedy with laughs from start to finish, especially funny are the out takes at the end of the film which made me laugh ...

Advantages: there aren't any Disadvantages: too many to list
Hugely disappointing waste of Jackie Chan's talents, this film should be avoided like the plague. Being an enormous Jackie Chan fan I had very high hopes for this. It has absolutely no redeeming features whatsoever. Chris Tucker is the most irritating man on the planet bar none and unfortunately Jackie is reduced to the role of amusing little foreign man which is unforgiveable. The stunts and action sequences are forgettable, coming as secondary ...
