You may have seen it; it's the one where they show one day from the perspective of each family member. ...what surprised me most about Run Lola Run is just how captivating a movie it is. So it's a German film, with subtitles, but don't let that put you off. The visual style and energy that director Tom Tykwer brings to this picture cannot be underestimated, nor indeed can the lively performance from Franka Potente in the lead role. If ever there was an example of film experimentation, this is it, as Tykwer throws in just about every trick in the book. ...

On the surface, it doesn't sound all that gripping, but the joy of the film is that three different scenarios are played out, and so technically, you have three different films in one. I went to see it on the very last day of university, purely because I had nothing better to do, and my friend dragged me along to it - and it was probably the best film I saw all term. Run Lola Run is a stunning movie. The basic plot sees Manni a courier for German Gangsters. He needs to raise 100,000 German marks to give to his boss as he has left the money on the subway. He is in a state of shock because he needs the money in 20 minutes. He turns to his girlfriend Lola for help. From this point the movie splits up, showing the viewer different scenarios for what happens next. The film is in German, the DVD version for R1 and ...
...music, written especially for the movie is also really really good. The film requires a fast paced soundtrack that keeps the viewer feeling in time with the events that take place. When I first noticed this film in the video shop I was tempted to rent it but the whole subtitle thing put me off. Don't make this mistake!
