Vomit Eating Vermin

Advantages: Excellent Family Entertainment
Disadvantages: There will be little chance of you watching anything else, ever again on the Telly.

...a better film than the Rugrats first venture onto the big screen. The result is a heart warmingly funny and sad film. A family film without all the gushy, gushy gooey bits that I hate. It has to be said that the creators of “Rugrats” have happened upon a magical formula for giving us both the adult “outside looking in” on the toddlers and their adventures whilst not knowing the half of it and the children “inside looking out” and frankly having ...

The kids cartoon that can make you cry AND laugh

Advantages: Great family fun
Disadvantages: Tommy has a reduced role! He should get a better agent!

...with small children will know, Rugrats is a gem of a TV show; a cartoon that appeals to mum and dad as much as the children. It is intelligently written and always includes a few jokes just for the grown-ups without being suggestive. The first film, imaginatively entitled "Rugrats: The Movie", was a bit of a disappointment. After a hugely entertaining and very funny first fifteen minutes it degenerated into a plotless runaround that only young children ...
...‘villains’ in the series: Angelica. I’m glad to report that the inevitable sequel is more in the tradition of the best TV episodes. For those of you unfamiliar with the format, the "rugrats" are the young children whose parent all live in the same neighbourhood. This movie actually clarifies some points for me, like the ages that the children are supposed to be. Chuckie is stated as being almost 2, and can’t quite ‘talk’ ...

2 Weddings and a Near Miss.

Advantages: Well known characters, colourful, funny for the kids
Disadvantages: Expensive tickets, limited story, boring for adults

After the first Rugrats movie, I swore never to go again. Guess what? Here I am, another holiday, another, ‘Can we go and see it mum?’ and off we trot to the cinema! Rugrats in Paris lasted 1 hour 15 minutes and is a U rating in the UK. Despite enjoying the film, I still feel that it really suits a 20-minute cartoon slot better than it does a movie. I'm surprised that this is the second film because I thought that the first one would ...
...- but it wouldn't be Rugrats then, would it? In the first film, Tommy got a baby brother, Dill. This time, I'm pleased to say that Dill has been evolved and now 'babbles' the odd word or two. There is also the introduction of 'Susie' another baby on the block. My children were watching Rugrats on cable the other day and pointed out to me that Chucky's new mum was in the cartoon series along with his new sister, so it looks like the continuity from ...

the babies are back

Advantages: wonderfully told story that'll be a gem on video
Disadvantages: woefully short on screen, and still has that "TV" feel of an episode.. you can just hear the tie ins coming...

...Only The Simpsons rivals the Rugrats in its consistently spot-on portrayal of modern American suburbia, seen from the inside out — and Rugrats drops its love bombs without being inappropriate for toddlers, and without resorting to postmodern absurdism. Indeed, toddlerhood is absurd enough, and the show's first spin-off movie, The Rugrats Movie, focused, as the show does, on the quotidian realms of diapers, misinterpreted adultisms, indiscriminate ...
...of peer socialization. Rugrats in Paris, on the other hand, veers too far from the Pickles' backyard to have much of an impact — but the rhythms, characterizations, and fish-eye perspectives are still at work. Suffice it to say that the animated munchkins lay waste to the City of Lights in pursuit of ice cream and justice, the frequent song interludes will distract the kids (but send the adults into comas), and the anti-Disney satire rages ...

...and the rest of the Rugrats in finding him a new mother. I feel they dwelled on his lack of a mother rather too much. At one point the Rugrats are on an aeroplane and Chuckie sees his mother’s face in the clouds. There are a couple of children I know who would have left the cinema in tears at this point. The rest of the film was classic Rugrats, though. As in the first movie, this was mainly about the babies, with the adults playing only supporting ...
...where Chuckie was dreaming that he was a ninja. Isn’t it funny that the most boring bits for adults tend to be the most interesting ones for children? They also liked the end, where the ‘baddie’ lost the back of her dress and her underwear was on show. They have since been singing the rhyme that one of the characters quoted, “I’ve seen Paris, I’ve seen France, I’ve seen Coco’s underpants”. The ...

Great kids flick, perfect for half term

Advantages: Bright colourful and a good story. Very funny whith several gags.
Disadvantages: Predictable ending, but hey its a kids film.

...Well how did Rugrats fair, Well it certainly wasnt Disney, but it didnt have to be. This film was one of the best animated films I have seen in a long time. The children all have there own very individual characters, but the whole notion of finding Chuckie a 'mommy' is bound to appeal to kids in this day and age, where there is no such thing as mum, dad and 2.4 kids anymore. At one point my daughter was in tears, and i too felt very emotional when ...
...Im a convert to the Rugrats phenomenon after seeing this films. These little guys show the world from a kids point of view and one actually thinks this might be how children actually see the world. The kids want to see it again, which is always a good sign. ...

...fail to hold your own rugrats attention. Overall, I have enjoyed the film more than I enjoy the cartoon series on TV, and I am sure that this is not the last of the big screen adventures of Chuckie and co. There are are some real heart wrenching moments, but also some which really warm the cockles of the heart. ...

Not Just For Kiddies

Advantages: Great Movie.....Lots of fun.
Disadvantages: Ummm......do noisy kids in the cinema count?

...a joint decision......he likes the rugrats too. We sat in the cinema at 6.30 pm surrounded by children & their bored looking parents. I am sure we stood out like sore thumbs, but hey, we had fun so who cares? I used to be a fan of the rugrats many years ago (being off work sick for a long time, getting up to see the Rugrats was the highlight of my day. Sad, but true!). I never saw the original movie & haven't watched the cartoon series for years. ...
...fairly short (around 80 mins I seem to remember)...which is to be expected considering the age group it is marketed at. The crux of the movie is that the whole crew (including Spike the dog) travel to Paris to Euro Reptar Land. Yes I admit that upon seeing Reptar Land I was oohhing & aawing with the kiddies (even though my fella kept whispering in my ear "it's not real!!")....let's just say if this theme park ever existed, I would be there in a shot. ...

Viva les Rugrat

Advantages: Really fun once it gets going
Disadvantages: So slow at the start

...and worse than the first Rugrats movie, better in that when this movie is good (the second half) it is very good, lots of fun high octane action, with a big (really, really big) chase across Paris as the finale. The main problem is that you have to sit through the first half to get there, this part of the movie is not to put to fine a point of it boring. The average youngster will probabily spend the first half of the movie jumping up and down asking ...

Surpasses Original By Miles

Advantages: Read The Review
Disadvantages: Read The Review

This is that great rarety, a sequel that is not merely as good as the original, but surpasses it in every way. This time around, the intrepid tots are bound for Paris, in search of a new Mom for Chuckie. Unfortunately, the most likely candidate seems to be the Cruella de Ville-like boss of EuroReptarland. Inevitably madcap escapades ensue across the theme park (the writers poking a great deal of fun at a certain other Parisian resort), resulting ...
...just say 'shades of King Kong' and leave it at that. The gang are all present and correct, including newcomer Kimi (who oddly does not have much to do). Twins Phil and Lil take gross-out humour to a whole new level and evil cousin Angelica commits her worst atrocity yet, but really this is Chuckie's film. Everyone's favourite scaredy cat takes the viewer from moments of heartbreaking sadness (I genuinely cried at one point!) to madcap sequences ...

...times better then it's original Rugrats movie (a flop honestly)Well this movie really has it's sad parts it's good parts and it's crazy part's all you need in a classic cartoon movie. Delightful movie

Advantages: Good for all age children

...delightful story with all the Rugrats Characters. Chuckie wants to find himself a new mum, which is portrayed in such lovely moving scenes. The way it is portrayed really does bring a tear to your eye, showing how he doesn't want to be different to the other children and how he sees the love other children's mum's have for them. My children really did find it touching. The film has adventure and a wicked step-mother to be, comedy (both for children ...
