...already has a plan - Road Trip! They borrow a car from a friend, Kyle (DJ Qualls) with a rich (but mean) dad, & EL reluctantly agrees to let him join them on the journey, as well as another friend, Rubin (Paulo Costanzo). Off they go on an eventful journey to recover the tape & save Josh's relationship before it is too late. Okay, the ... ...up that he cannot afford to fail & another geeky student obsessed with Beth is determined to jeopardise things for him. Plus, Josh has hardly studied for his exam, so he will need to learn it all before he returns from their mission!
The Acting
If you know anything about Seann William Scott, you'll know this - his characters will do anything & I mean ANYTHING. EL has a way of convincing you that he knows exactly what he is doing, even if he hasn't ...

This film came out in 2000 when these teen gross out comedies were all the rage, other films like American Pie and Scary Movie were in high demand at the time and Road Trip fits neatly into this category of very crude yet very funny teen comedy. I was at school when ... ...the ultimate teen comedy however Road Trip trails closely behind in terms of rude gags and sheer entertainment. Seann William Scott is one of those rare actors that has made the transition from teen movie to star to adult comedy star. I loved him in all his earlier roles (American Pie, Final Destination and Dude Where’s My Car) however in the last couple of years he’s lost his appeal with me a little. He was perfect for teen comedies, with an unrivalled ...

Road Trip (15)
Directed By:- Todd Phillips
Produced By:- Ivan Reitman
Starring:- Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Amy Smart, Rachel Blanchard and Tom Green
The first thing that I was told about this film is that it is very similar to American Pie. Basically I got the impression that if you like American Pie then you will like this. I cannot see the similarities myself unless you count Seann William Scott who has appeared in both movies. Yes, ... ...but that is where you can draw the line. Two totally different storylines, two different sets of characters and more importantly, in my view, two different levels of comedy.
I won't say that I didn't like American Pie, and I wouldn't say that either film is better than the other. I would however, say that both films have that method of cringiness that we have come to get used to in the comedy film world these days. Certain people I know have said ...

This film has been on my 'too see' list for way too long, so last week when a mate invited me round on her birthday, I suggested that we should pop down to the video shop and get this out, so we did....

THE FILM
The film begins with a tour guide, a young man who hasn't a clue giving a guide of a college, he gives the impression that he is or was a student there and later on you find out that he was. Although this man, who we find out is called Barry, hasn't a clue about all the histroy and information on the college, he does no the backround of recent passed events having been a student there, going ...

...his friends went on a road trip.
It all started with this guy Josh, and his best friend Tiffany, who have known each other practically since they could walk. As they grew up they realized being friends wasn’t enough for them so they started going out. Everything looked like a happy life for them, until it came to college. Tiffany went to veterinary school in Austin, Texas, while Josh ended up stuck in a New York college. As you can probably ... ...only one thing for it- Road Trip! Now the story teller, who we find out is called Barry stays behind soley for the purpose of getting Rubin's snake all to himself so he can torcher mice (yeah he is mad, and throughout the film you ...

Advantages: Plenty of laughs, some very good performances. Disadvantages: None really
Whilst settling down to watch Road Trip last night, I was expecting a rip-off and not as funny version of American Pie, OK it is similar in a way, you know the typical sex starved teenagers in the American College movie, but I found it had its own originality to it and some hilarious laughs as well. The film starts off with Tom Green playing Barry a very strange and unstable student showing a group of people around the College grounds, on a guided ... ...it, so he decides to tell the tour party a story that happened whilst he was attending the College.
The film is then shown as a kind of video diary of what went on, but Green likes to add bits in, especially when it comes to nude girls, so the story goes:
Josh (played by Breckin Meyer) and Tiffany (played by Rachel Blanchard) are childhood sweethearts, they have known each other for their entire life and end up getting pretty serious, there is ...

Advantages: Great film, better plot than normal with a film from this gender Disadvantages: Needed more Tom Greening!
Never being a huge fan of American Pie, I was unsure whether I'd like this film or not. But I went to the cinema and saw it when it was released and was completely surprised as it was so good. I then bought it as soon as it was released in the US on DVD.
You could make comparisons to American Pie, but I believe this is much funnier with a much better plot to it. Don't get me wrong if you liked AP you'll love this film too, but this seems to have ... ...far superior.

The film starts of with the character named Barry (Tom Green) who is giving a tour to some possible new students and their parents around the grounds of the University of Ithaca. Advantages: Quite funny, some wry looks at teen flicks, Disadvantages: not as funny as the film that inspired it
Road trip is a homage to the teen rites of passage movie that was inspired by a scene from National Lampoon's Animal House, where some of the fraternity members were in trouble and decided that the timing was perfect for a 'road trip'. This film is based around Ithaca College, and the story is told as a narrative by a guy (Barry) who is showing prospective new students and their parents around the campus. Some of the people complain about his lack ... ...This prompts the Road Trip of the title as Josh, EL and Ruben enlist the services of Kyle (a weedy nerd type of guy) who happens to own a car. They then set-out to drive across the country and intercept the tape before Tiffany gets it. It's a very simple script but is very well told. Barry's rendition of the happenings come in for some criticism from the females in his tour group, and the movie does have some fairly gratuitous scenes of female nudity, ...

Road Trip is not the most original movie you are likely to see and its difficult to care about the characters when they are quite this underdevluoped, but at the same time it is a movie which is going to make you laugh and that surely is its main point. ...a bit of expectation around Road Trip. It feel into the Teen High School/College comedy genre with ease and like the previous year's success with American Pie it ticked all the required criteria. ...it sexual or gross humour. Road Trip is a film in the vein of American Pie, it even has one of the stars of that film as one of the stars in this one. This is how the story goes very plain and simple. It's college and one guy has a long distance relationship with his childhood sweetheart.
