I Am Taking The Red Eye Flight Again!

Advantages: Gripping, Intellegent, Well Acted and Directed, Subtle
Disadvantages: Some Unintentional Giggles

...this psychopath alive? Red Eye is a nifty little thriller that's almost Hitchcockian in execution, unbearably tense, well acted and surprisingly intelligent with a well judged running time and a lot of twists and turns. Ranging from tense and taunt to gruelling and thrilling the film covers pretty much every base in the thriller genre. The scenes in the plane are beautifully made - with Craven using the claustrophobic setting to full advantage and ...
...even the clichés seeming fresh. Red Eye also has a wonderfully fast pace and suitably short running time that's long enough to build a story but short enough to keep the surprises coming thick and fast without being tiresome. It's a hugely enjoyable, well made and exciting with more smarts than you might expect. What makes Red Eye such a successful thriller is its surprisingly uneven, but effective tone - the film constantly reinvents itself and ...

...of film, then no doubt Red Eye will not fail to disappoint you. However if you like to be a little more challenged by your choice of viewing material then you'll be pig sick after this stinker. And in case you're thinking to yourself "Red Eye, I've never heard of that!" well from my initial comments your probably beginning to realise why. I watched Red Eye with no knowledge as to what it was about; all I knew was that a plane was featured. As the ...
...Wes Craven playing at?" Because Red Eye does not seem like Wes Craven in anyway, it is almost as if it was directed by someone else who had dropped out. But no Wes was there from the very first day; Wes is no stranger to change after the second Scream movie Wes went into production of a family movie about a music teacher called Music Of The Heart starring Meryl Streep of all people. Red Eye is so far removed from anything he has done, and from 25 ...

At 30,000 feet there's nowhere to run

Advantages: A brilliant, taut thriller
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

The first thing that made me take notice of this film was that Rachel McAdams was in it. This was released in 2005 so pretty soon after her two monster hits Mean Girls & one of my favourite films The Notebook in which she was fantastic in it & of course in Mean Girls. She's also great in this & I really can't praise her enough, I think she's a fantastic actress & I hope she does a lot more great movies in the future as she's really someone to look ...
...& drugs like her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan did, Rachel McAdams seems to really have her eye on the prize & want to concentrate on her career & doing this she has picked some fantastic roles. Another thing that attracted me to this film was of course the director, Wes Craven. The scream trilogy are three of my favourite films & he really has a great way of building tension in his films. Although he is famous for horrors he really excels in ...

Jackson Rippner Gives The Game Away

Advantages: No brainer, so you can relax and watch
Disadvantages: Poor thriller. Wes Craven telegraphs what will happen next!

Lisa Reisert has her mobile stuck to her head most of the time. It seems that the only way she can conduct, or order, her confusing business and private lives is to organise it all by phone. She is desperately trying to make suitable arrangement with everyone as quickly as possible and is only too much aware that she could miss her flight to Miami. However, the flight is delayed she ends up in the company of a gentleman named Jackson Rippner. The ...
...smile because it was a real giveaway of the plot before we even got to know the characters. When they board the plane they have seats next to each other. Of course they had to because of his name and the mounting sense of stress around her. The plot could only be headed in one direction. There is a built up of psychological tension here as we wait to see if we are correct and Jackson Rippner is who we think he is. All kinds old images come to mind ...

Red eye.. must watch

Advantages: Fast pace.. good acting
Disadvantages: none really.

...churned out many good flicks, Red eye another credit to his list, along with the likes of the SCREAM triology. The film starts off showing a busy woman travelling back to Miama on the red eye flight (hence the tite!), after attending her Grandmothers funeral. As her flight is delayed.. and there is a alot of chaos at the airport. Lisa meets a friendly guy named Jackson, a slight mystery to him, but portrays his character excellently. After having ...

While he starts talking to her, she talks about her proffession ( a hotel manager) , she casually asks him, where he says hes a hitman.... watch to see what happens A fantastically written film, with Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls fame) and Cilian Murphy portraying their ...

Red eye, more like shut eye

Advantages: easy to watch, good acting
Disadvantages: very very predictable, huge plot holes

The first thing I will say is that there is nothing 'wrong' with this movie...its very hard to put my finger on it!! It is very much your typical watch when theres nothing on type thriller. Its playing on many peoples fear of flying and the inherrant, instilled rule that speaking to strangers is bad! I was impressed with the acting and the claustraphopic feeling of the plane setting, I tend to enjoy movies that are set in restricted and tight spaces, ...
...and sneak fear into people. This just didnt really have 'it' it was very predictable, and the twists were not really twists at all. It is supposed to be a thriller but I have to say that I wasnt particularly thrilled. There are no effects to speak of, and I have to say that the story just didnt happen for me, it really had a lot of potential and I think that with some major plugging of some plot holes, it could have worked really well. As I said ...
