Rambo - First Blood. (Film Review Only.)

I must confess when Rambo-First Blood was advertised in the Stallone Series currently being aired on Sky One I was a bit downhearted as I knew my Husband would want to watch it and this would mean either a very early night for me or being subjected to watching it. As you can guess I stayed up and sat down for what I thought would be mindless violence and bloodshed, well ...

...into a sweat, there was First Blood, the film that first brought him to our attention. Contrary to popular belief, the original film is actually quite good; no it's very good. It's surprisingly understated, well for an action movie that is, it moves at a logical pace and for all the reputation of its main character, it is not the blood bath that you expect it to be and it has a core theme that makes this slightly more thoughtful than your average ...

Rambo: First Blood (Film Only Review)
First Blood is unfortunately, one of those films whose legacy has been tainted by lesser sequels. In Rambo's case, First Blood parts 2 and 3 were so bad, it's a wonder the original film wasn't buried in a nuclear bomb-shelter and left to rot for ever more. Even the word 'Rambo' has become a by-word for muscle-bound, invincible freakiness and has entered the slang lexicon if not quite the Oxford dictionary. ...

...ludicrously excessive 2 sequels to First Blood whilst neatly forgeting the more intelligently crafted, ground breaking first movie...and yes, I did say both "intelligent" and "ground breaking". First Blood bravely paved the way for confessional Vietnam movies like "Platoon", "Born On The Fourth of July", "Full Metal Jacket" etc. which replaced the gung-ho, death and glory war movies of yesteryear and made damn sure cinema audiences would never take ...

Advantages: Rip roaring action picture with a strong message Disadvantages: Ultra-violent
...the series are unquestionably the first movies.
~ ~ When “Rambo – First Blood” was initially released in 1982, Stallone was riding on the crest of a wave in his acting career, due to the success of the “Rocky” movies, and was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The idea for Rambo was intrinsically very simple. A highly decorated war hero returns from the Vietnam War, after giving his all for his country, only ...

Advantages: An 80s action classic Disadvantages: Violent, dated, the message may be lost
Rambo: First Blood is the first of the Rambo films (followed by First Blood Part 2 and Rambo 3). Obviously I was aware of the cult status of Rambo films – in which Sylvester Stallone cemented the tough guy film star image he’d earned in the Rocky series – but I’d never previously seen any of them. The consensus seemed to be that, while the sequels got slightly silly, the first film was a good one; so I took the opportunity of watching it on BBC 1 ...

...a dead beat by the first police officer he met.
Quite unrealistic, but a great film nevertheless, The actors play brilliant parts as does rambo, but its just a bit unbelievable at times to take seriously.
This film was hard to get hold of when it first came out but now they are easily accessed.
The soundtrack is brilliant and some real classic tunes... This really does make it what it is.
The film is about 90 mins long and rated 15 and ...

Advantages: Great Action film. Disadvantages: A bit unbelievable maybe?
I really enjoy the Rambo films, they are the type of film you can just sit back and relax to after a hard days work. You don't need to pay too much attention, so you can have a chat, enjoy a beer and enjoy the action on the screen...

You're first introduced to John Rambo, a Vietnam Veteran, as he discovers he is the only member of his platoon left alive. From the moment that he is told this you can tell that he has a lot of psychological issues and is more deep that just your normal hero.
When he is arrested by the police by resisting an unfair arrest he is taken to jail, and despite being a veteran, he is whipped and beaten. Soon however he ...

Rambo 1: Rambo was a solder in Vietnam. He want s to visit a solder-friend. But the friend is dead. As a result of the real cruel war (napalm). Rambo isn t lucky. He goes on his own feet to a small town. He has little money, I think. (Because there is no car for him). He pay for something to eat and want s a place for the night. John Rambo is the last surviving member of an elite army unit from the Vietnam War. He is now a drifter, not quite right in the head but harmless enough if left alone. He wanders into a small town where the local police chief takes an instant dislike to him. He is 'asked' and then forced to leave town. When he wanders back, he is arrested and treated very badly. He escapes and takes his revenge on the town. This is a surprisingly good action movie ...

Surprisingly, this hits you right where it hurts. On the outside, it looks like another boy-movie-blood-fest, but the difference is - it has a story. Just watch, you'll see . . .

Advantages: Stallone at his undeniable peak, great stroy, a film with a message, the colonel Disadvantages: the subsequent sequels never lived up to this
...Colonel to Police Chief
Thats the first thing i remember about this film, and it sums up the premise of the film. A one man army. A man on a mission. But the story behind this film is very endearing.
Unlike many films of it's ilk. Rambo's story has a real backbone and a message to get across. Its obvious what that message is once the film has been watched and its not for me to spoil it for those who havent seen this materpiece of cinematography. ...
