Advantages: Creepy, never obvious what direction the film will take Disadvantages: The uniform makes it hard to tell the characters apart
It is 1972 and the South Koreans are stationed in Vietnam when a radio transmission is received, apparently from a platoon of men thought dead, begging for help. The leaders quickly put together a small team, under the direction of Lieutenant Choi, a man known for his cruelty and ability to get the most of out his men. Choi is to take his men to R Point, the area where the missing platoon was last thought to be. On arrival, the team find an old mansion ... ...are unsettled by a tombstone that tells of the many Vietnamese who were killed by the Chinese in the previous century. Then strange things begin to happen, starting with a visit from a team of Americans who shouldn't have been there. Can Lieutenant Choi find his compatriots and lead his men to safety? Or are they all doomed to die at R Point? Lieutenant Choi is the leader of the group and, played by Woo-Seong Kam, is really the only recognisable ...

Advantages: Stylish, well-acted, creepy Disadvantages: Doesn't go far enough!
FILM:
R-POINT opens eerily in Vietnam, in 1972. A Korean army base recieves whispered radio transmissions from Donkey 30, a division of Batallion 53. The transmissions are distressed, begging for someone to go and save them before they all die. The only problem with this is that the Batallion were all reported dead six months earlier. A wounded survivor confirms this when interviewed in his hospital bed. Completely covered in bandages, he argues ... ...warns that "no-one ever leaves R-Point alive" and unsettling recorded messages are discovered. And that's just the start for Tae-In's unlucky band of brothers! R-POINT is beautifully shot, with great landscapes and a fine location in the creepy building. The sunsets, the fields, the jungles ... cinematographer Suk Hyung-Jing has a keen eye for eveything at his disposal. Acting-wise, the film is strong - with Kam particularly impressing by way of ...

Advantages: Enjoyable korean offering, nice little twist Disadvantages: Not really scary!
A small Korean military unit goes to investigate some missing soldiers in an island of Ho Chi Minh known as R-Point. they find a villa surrounded by fog and begin their search unaware of the horrors that await them.
This is a reasonably good Korean horror film although it does not turn out to be that scary. The action centres entirely around this group of soldiers and the events they uncover in this area known as R-Point. Im not familiar with any ... ...all reasonable. The film helps these along by creating a great atmosphere around the villa in the mist.
There are special effects in this film and they are done pretty well but in the typical Asian style
The film keeps you interested by the end of the film - if you havent already worked it out there is a nice twist to the story which rounds it off well.
If you're a fan of Asian horror film then it is worth looking at but dont expect high gore, ...
