...first in the seemingly endless Police Academy series is also the best (but given the competition it's hardly suprising). The premise is simple, city tries to increase number of police officers by relaxing the entry requirements to the city's police academy. Cue hippies, dropouts, and undesirables all signing up to join the boys in blue. There are some funny scenes, and being new, had a freshness that set it apart from other films of the time. ... The Police Academy movies are all hilarious. Mahoney is the cheekiest cop in the movie and he has a lovable nature about him even when he goes undercover as a "bad guy" to trap the notorious gangs in the city. Another top character is Zed, the villain that turns cop later on in the series of movies. I have seen every Police Academy movie several times and I will never grow tired of them!
